Colson KINGSTON - Blanche E. Colson, 73, of 11 Scotland Road, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Exeter Hospital. She was born Dec. 19, 1929, in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Albert W. and Helen (McGrath) Griffin. She was raised in Georgetown, Mass., moving to Kingston in 1991. She was educated in Georgetown schools. Mrs. Colson was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The widow of Albert E. Colson, who died in 1988, she is survived by two sons, Robert E. Colson of Manchester and William A. Colson of Sanford, Maine; three daughters, Sandra L. Moody of Port Richie, Fla., Mary M. Sousa of Exeter and Beth Ann Tilton of Pensacola, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, William Griffin of Massachusetts; and three dear friends, Greta Smithers, Mike Priore and Ann O’Neil. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston. Memorial donations may be made to the N.H. SPCA, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03857. Shirley A. McLean HAMPTON - Shirley Ann McLean, 65, died of cancer Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, Mass., after a brief illness. She was born May 11, 1938, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Lester and Florence Welch. Mrs. McLean worked at Formax in Dover. She is survived by her husband, David McLean; her children, Ricci and Lisa Accardi of Newburyport, Mass., Lisa Accardi of Derry, Julie and Kenneth Noyes of Kingston, Gina and Rob Oliva of Manchester, Marc Accardi of Lowell, Mass., and Wendy and Adam Mansur, Julie and Bud Melim, David and Lisa McLean and Shawn McLean, all of Florida; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Lester Welch, Skip Welch and Jerry Welch; and two sisters, Janice Regan and Marilyn Corradino. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements were by the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, Hampton. Leo J. Moriarty KINGSTON - Leo J. "Moe" Moriarty, 79, of Scotland Road, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born June 2, 1924, in Fall River, Mass., the son of the late Thomas and Lillian (Patry) Moriarty. He resided in Central Falls and Lincoln, R.I., before moving to Kingston in 1960. He attended Holy Trinity and St. Raphael’s Academy where he excelled in sports. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a military policeman with the 309th Signal Company Wing in the European Theatre. Mr. Moriarty was a salesman for the John Sexton Co., retiring after 30 years of service. He had previously worked for Sayles Finishing Plant in Saylesville, R.I. for 16 years. He played semi-pro football for the Central Falls Townies and after moving to Kingston he was a player/coach in the men’s softball league. Mr. Moriarty was serving his third term as supervisor of the checklist for Kingston. He was a member of the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department and the Kingston Veterans Club. He is survived by his wife, Olive (Papineau) Moriarty of Kingston; two daughters, Pamela A. Moriarty of Hooksett and Paula E. Moriarty of Hampstead; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Gertrude Howells of Cumberland, R.I.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Moriarty of Providence, R.I. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in Mary, Mother of the Church, Newton. Military burial followec in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston. Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. Charles E. O’Connor Sr. RAYMOND - Charles E. "Okie" O’Connor Sr., 91, of Anita Avenue, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Harborside Health Care-Northwood in Bedford. He was born March 25, 1912, in Boston, the son of the late Robert and Frances O’Connor and had resided in Raymond for 36 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. O’Connor worked at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston for 30 years and was a 30-year member of Local 26, Hotel and Restaurant Union. He worked as a longshoreman in Boston for 20 years and as an operating room technician at Massachusetts General Hospital for 20 years. He is survived by three sons, Charles E. O’Connor Jr. of Manchester, Robert O’Connor of East Boston and David O’Connor of Manchester; four grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Burial will be held Friday at noon in Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Raymond Ambulance Fund, 1 Scribner Road, Raymond, NH 03077. Barbara L. Roy AMESBURY, Mass. - Barbara L. Roy, 71, of Powow Villa, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She was born Sept. 13, 1931, in Pittsburg, Kan., the daughter of the late C. Leonard and Helen (Harvey) Ross. She was raised in Kansas and had been an Amesbury resident for many years. Mrs. Roy was a registered nurse for 50 years and had been employed at the former Amesbury Hospital for many years. She was an active member of the Amesbury Housing Authority and the Powow Villa Association. She was an avid reader and Red Sox fan and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by four sons and their wives, Steven and Chris Roy of Raymond, Michael and Louise Roy of Hampton, Thomas and Marsinne Roy of Deltona, Fla., and John and Laurie Roy of Manchester; two daughters, Kathy Boucher and Lisa Kay and her husband Richard, all of Kingston; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Ross of Mulvane, Kan.; and one sister, Bonnie Amershek of Frontenac, Kan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 67 Friend St., Amesbury. Burial will be private. Clara Willey VALENCIA, Calif. - Clara Delia (Charter) Willey, 93, formerly of Raymond, died July 25, 2003, in Valencia. She was born Oct. 7, 1909, in Candia, the daughter of Eugene and Lucy (Seward) Charter. She was raised in Candia moving to Manchester after her marriage to Fenton P. Cottrell. She moved to Raymond in 1937 and to California in 1996. She is survived by three sons, Lawrence Cottrell Sr. of Exeter, Howard Cottrell of Ventura, Calif., and George Cottrell of Raymond; one daughter, Lois Dorrell of Valencia; one stepdaughter, Joan Rand of Keizer, Ore; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her second husband, Howard M. Willey, in 1969. Friends may call Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. in Holbrook Cemetery, Candia. A reception will be held following the service at the home of Colleen Towle, 271 Fremont Road, Chester.
