Pattee NEWTON - Ellen M. "Namy" (Gould) (Hanson) Pattee, 80, of Packer Meadows, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at the Exeter Hospital. She was born in Charlestown, Mass., and raised in Malden. Mrs. Pattee attended Malden schools and Chevrus High School. She moved to Newton in 1938 and graduated Sanborn High School in Kingston. Mrs. Pattee worked at the former Western Electric Co. for several years and later for 12 years at New England Telephone & Telegraph in Haverhill, Mass. At the time of her retirement in 1985, she was employed in directory assistance. A resident of Newton for 65 years, she was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in Newton, the Eclipse Grange of Newton, The Telephone Pioneers of America and the Silver Tops. She was also a former member of the Newton Police Auxiliary B.B.s. The wife of the late Clifton Pattee and former wife of the late Newton Police Chief Richard S. Hanson, she is survived by three daughters, Patricia Straten and her husband, Edward, of Plaistow, Kandi Trevette and her husband, Robert, of Hampton, and Richelle Hanson of Hampton; two sisters, May Harriman of Hampstead and Patricia Estabrook of Newton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at Mary Mother of the Church in Newton. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery, Newton. Memorial donations may be made to the Newton Rescue Squad, PO Box 209, Newton, NH 03858. Arrangements are by the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, Plaistow. Helen E. Schreiber SEABROOK - Helen E. Schreiber, 69, of 38 Norman Road, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at the Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born March 28, 1934, in Meriden, Conn., the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Marks) Sehl. She was a graduate of Meriden High School and attended McIntosh Business School in Connecticut. Mrs. Schreiber moved to Seabrook in 1973 coming from Buffalo, N.Y., and was employed for several years as a sales clerk at the former Barn Antiques in Hampton Falls. More recently, she was employed at Bill’s Wholesale Furniture in Hampton Falls, which recently succeeded the Barn Antiques. She enjoyed playing the trumpet, and in the 1950s and 1960s was part of an all-girls band that traveled throughout the country. She later played second trumpet with a prestigious group in Philadelphia. She attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Hampton. Mrs. Schreiber is survived by her husband, John F. Millet of Seabrook; one sister, Virginia Backus of Meriden; one brother, Henry Sehl of Holiday, Fla.; five stepchildren, Linda Millett of Sandown, Paul Millett of Bradford, Mass., Joanne Lavoie of Sandown, Donna Shackley of Danville, and Sally Morse of Plaistow; 16 stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Schreiber; and two brothers, Thomas Sehl and William Sehl. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home–Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook. Charles H. Gratton III FREMONT - Charles H. "Chuck" Gratton III, 50, of 85 Karlin Way, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 at his home. He was born March 24, 1953, in Norwalk, Conn., the son of Charles H. and Joan R. (Morton) Gratton Jr. of Winchester. Mr. Gratton moved to New Hampshire in 1969 and to the Seacoast area in 1978. His career in the retail oil business included being employed for the past four years by Rye Fuel–Goodwin Oil as the company manager. He also owned and operated the former Stratham Fuel Company and, before that, was employed by Callahan-Whaleco Fuel Company. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joyce (Edmondson) Gratton; two sons, Michael Gratton of Raymond and Jeffrey P. Gratton of Kittery; one brother, David Gratton of Stratham; three sisters, Susie Hernon of Bellows Falls, Vt., Linda Burdo of Jay, Maine, and Kathy Barnard of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two infant sons, Jeffrey A. and Peter Gratton; and a brother, Richard Gratton. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home–Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Mary Ann Masson RAYMOND - Mary Ann Masson, 71, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at the Exeter Hospital. She was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of the late George and Ada (Cummings) Melick. Mrs. Masson grew up in Arlington, Mass., and Lexington, Mass. She was a graduate of Lexington High School and resided in Arlington for many years. She worked for many years for Bell Atlantic, retiring in 1978 as a supervisor. She lived for the past 17 years in Raymond where she enjoyed spending time with her friends and eating out. She is survived by her good friends, Joyce and Gary Hyre of Raymond, and Irene Buker of Massachusetts. Private burial was held in the Edson Cemetery, Lowell, Mass. Fraser RAYMOND - Michael P. Fraser, 39, of Route 27, died suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at his home in Raymond. He was born July 29, 1964, in Framingham, Mass., the son of the late James and Joan (Follansbee) Fraser. Formerly of Sandown, he resided in Raymond for the past 10 years. He was employed for many years as a machine operator for Genesis Woodcraft in Chester. Mr. Fraser had a strong work ethic and always made time to help friends and family in need. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan and collector. Mr. Fraser is survived by his wife of four years, Laurie (Elliot) Fraser of Raymond; a daughter, Felicia Fraser of Raymond; stepdaughter, Erica Ellis of Raymond; two sisters, Colleen Tupper of Goffstown and Barbara Fraser of Melrose, Mass.; two brothers, James Fraser of Maryland and Wayne Fraser of Missouri; a stepbrother, James McKusker of Plaistow; a stepsister, Jennifer McKusker of Danville; a godchild, Keisha Morgan of Derry; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Wayne VanGundy will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Raymond. Childs, 64, of Kingston, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She was born Aug. 5, 1939, in Swampscott, Mass., the daughter of the late Ray H. and Madeleine Childs. She graduated from Sanborn Seminary in 1957 and Mount St. Mary’s College in Hooksett in 1961. She spent her junior year at the University of Grenoble in France, and taught French and Spanish in the Amesbury and Newburyport public schools until her retirement in 1999. Miss Childs is survived by two sisters, Marjorie C. Harvey and Eleanor L. Childs. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Pine Street, Exeter.
