Hartford Jr. HAVERHILL, Mass. - Joseph H. Hartford Jr., 66, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 at his home on West Lowell Street after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Epping, the son of the late Joseph and Hilda Hartford. Mr. Hartford grew up in Epping and lived much of his life in Somerville and Medford, Mass. He had resided in Haverhill for the past seven years. He was a self-employed carpenter and also worked for many years at the Haverhill Shoe Factory. Known by many as "Brother Hartford" or simply "Uncle Joe," he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and living life to its fullest. Mr. Hartford is survived by his companion of 24 years, Barbara Rheaume of Haverhill; two daughters, Joanne H.P. Hartford of Haverhill and Emma Courchaine of Tamworth; four sons, Warren J. Hartford of Fremont, Joseph H. Hartford III of Haverhill, George J. Hartford of Roswell, N.M., and Christopher A. Hartford of Arlington, Texas; a step-daughter, Niomi Rheaume of Haverhill; a step-son, James Cooper of Cambridge, Mass.; three brothers, William H. Hartford of Haverhill, John Hartford of Epping, and Richard Hartford of Freedom; four sisters, Beatrice A. Heath of Newton, Barbara White of Epping, Beverly Hill of Exeter, and Gladys Hartford of Concord; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping. The Rev. Ronald Townsend officiated the service. Burial followed in Prospect Cemetery, Epping. Charles R. Pool PALM BEACH, Fla. - Charles R. Pool, 47, of Palm Beach died unexpectedly, Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 in Florida. He was born Dec. 29, 1955, in Lynn, Mass., the son of the late Arthur R. and Joan D. (Blachford) Pool. Mr. Pool was raised in Kingston and was a graduate of Sanborn Regional High School. He was one of the founders of the Fremont Rescue Squad and a member of the Fremont Fire Department. He had resided in Florida for the past several years. He enjoyed drawing and painting and camping with his sons. Mr. Pool is survived by two sons, Jason W. Pool of Fremont and Christopher C. Pool of Exeter; two sisters, Cindy Adams of Kingston and Kathy Heath of Houlton, Maine; one step-brother, George Colclough of Lynn, Mass.; two step-sisters, Lynn Carsile and Andrea Colclough, both of Lynn; one niece; three nephews; and two great-nieces. The family requests there be no visiting hours and flowers please be omitted. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston. Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.
