Arnold PLAISTOW - Robert W. Arnold, 60, of Plaistow, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1961. Mr. Arnold served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked for the past eight years at the Haverhill office of the U.S. Postal Service. A resident of Plaistow since 1995, he was a member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow, the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion, Plaistow, and AmVets Post No. 147 of Haverhill. He is survived by his wife, Jayne (Stachulski) Arnold; two sons, Barry J. Arnold and Gary R. Arnold, both of Plaistow; a sister, Mary Garcia of Phoenix; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, Plaistow. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow. Donations in his name may be made to The Brain Tumor Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, Cox Building, Room 315, 55 Fruit St., Boston, Mass. Pauline O. Fontaine NEWTON - Pauline O. (Gagnon) Fontaine, 73, of Newton, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at the Exeter Hospital. She was born in Amesbury, Mass. She attended Amesbury public schools and graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute in Hawthorne. Mrs. Fontaine worked for 15 years at the former Western Electric Company of North Andover, retiring in 1972. A resident of Newton since 1978, she was a member of Saint James Parish of Haverhill. Mrs. Fontaine is survived by her husband, Joseph C. Fontaine; two daughters, Deborah Bourassa and her husband, William, of Danville, and Donna Page and her husband, Kenneth, of Raymond; a brother, Ronald Gagnon of Amesbury; two grandchildren; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David J. Fontaine. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Saint James Church, Winter St., Haverhill. Arrangements are by the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Roy C. Johannesen DANVILLE - Roy C. Johannesen, 53, of Danville, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at the Exeter Hospital. Born in Needham, Mass., Mr. Johannesen was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School. A resident of Danville since 1988 and a former resident of Plaistow from 1978 to 1988, he worked as a cableman for 30 years for New England Telephone and later Nynex Corp., which is now known as Verizon. Mr. Johannesen is survived by his wife, Sheila S. (Katz) Johannesen; a daughter, Erica M. Johannesen of Plymouth, Mass.; a sister, Mary R. Trombly of North Andover, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Burial was in the Meetinghouse Cemetery, Danville. Lawrence C. "Larry" Paul ATKINSON - Lawrence C. "Larry" Paul, 98, of Atkinson, the founder and former owner of Process Engineering in Plaistow, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at his home. Born in Sevastopol, Russia, what is now the Ukraine, Mr. Paul moved with his family through Europe and finally settled in South Philadelphia. He graduated in 1930 with a degree in electrical engineering from the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry, now known as Drexel University. Mr. Paul began work as an engineer at The Liberty Coppersmith Company and trained briefly as a teacher. He moved to Boston in 1936 to take control of the former Dahlquist Boilermaking Company, and in 1938, founded Process Engineering, eventually moving the company to Somerville, Mass. In 1954, Mr. Paul moved the company to Methuen and later to Plaistow, where it is now located and is part of Chart Industries. The subject of a recently published book titled "The Boss," Mr. Paul’s company manufactured products for NASA, as well as the Manhattan Project. A resident of Atkinson since 1994, Mr. Paul lived in Exeter from 1967 to 1994 and previously resided in North Andover, Waban and Winthrop, Mass. The husband of the late Olive R. (Allen) Paul, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth L Paul of Atkinson and Douglas A. Paul of Carmel, Calif.; two daughters, Wendy Doughty of Atkinson and Suzanne Price of Blowing Rock, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. A private family burial service will take place Saturday in Exeter Cemetery.
