Beaulieu DANVILLE - Anna Savich Beaulieu, 93, of Main Street, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Exeter Hospital after a brief illness. She was born July 13, 1910, in Kearney, N.J., the daughter of Charles and Anna Marie (Brazdun) Savich. She resided in Skowhegan, Maine, from 1941 until 1979 when she moved to Danville. She attended business school in New Jersey. Mrs. Beaulieu was employed by the New Jersey Telephone Co. and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for many years, in a shoe factory in Skowhegan and as a manager at H&R Block, and in the watch department at Jordan Marsh in Portland, Maine, for a period of time. She loved birds and owned 14 cockatiels. The widow of Omer E. Beaulieu, her husband of 53 years who died in 1982, she is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Beaulieu Holmes of Wetumpka, Ala.; one son, Richard O. Beaulieu of Danville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Private graveside services will be held in South Side Cemetery, Skowhegan, Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. Alice M. Gervais RAYMOND - Alice M. Gervais, 86, of Fordway Road, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood. She was born May 8, 1917, in Chelmsford, Mass., the daughter of the late Stanley and Ella (Venoit) Barr. She was raised in Exeter and had resided in Raymond for 15 years. Mrs. Gervais was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Brentwood. She enjoyed cooking and bird watching. The widow of Ernest C. Gervais, she is survived by six daughters, Priscilla Colby of Raymond, Alice Gilbert of Moultonboro, Mary Moore of Epping, Peggy Stevens of Dover, Kathy Joy of New Durham, and Bonnie Skinner of Raymond; two sons, Howard Gervais of Epping and Gerald Gervais of Northwood; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Barr of Rochester and Charlie Barr of Exeter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Charles Gervais and Stanley Gervais. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Exeter Cemetery. Mazur AMESBURY, Mass. - Adam Joseph Mazur, 88, of 93 South Hampton Road, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill, Mass. He was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Joseph and Josepha (Szymczyk) Mazur. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a Tech 5, and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Mazur was a machinist and had worked in area shoe shops including Fifth Avenue Shoe Co. and Barr & Bloomfield Shoe Co. He enjoyed farming and growing vegetables and was a skilled carpenter. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph’s Church of Amesbury, and was a member of the former Eagles Club. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Adam J. and Patricia Mazur Jr. of East Kingston and Richard A. and Linda Mazur of Amesbury; one daughter and her husband, Elaine and David Williams of Raymond; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Grace E. (Betts) Mazur and his second wife, Rita (Chabot) Mazur. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at Holy Family Parish’s St. Joseph’s Church, Amesbury. Private interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury. Schwarten DANVILLE - Marie V. Schwarten, 86, of Main Street, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Exeter Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 27, 1917, in New York City, the daughter of the late Max and Frieda (Meyer) Vetter. She attended Hunter College in New York. Mrs. Schwarten was self-employed as a German and French translator. She was an active member of the Friends of Colby Memorial Library and the Hawke Historical Society; a former cemetery trustee; and had worked on the voter checklist in Danville. She is survived by three daughters, Diana Ryan of Hernando, Fla., Ingrid Fuller of Pearland, Texas, and Astrid Peterson of Aberdeen, Miss.; two sons, Eric Schwarten of Orlando, Fla., and Fred Schwarten of Danville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and friends, Shirley Kimball of Danville and Janet Fisher of Merrimac, Mass. Private graveside services will be held in the Old Meetinghouse Cemetery, Danville, at the convenience of the family. Smith, 94, of Lucient Avenue, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood. He was born Sept. 8, 1909, in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late Charles L. and Gertrude E. (Wood) Smith. He had resided in Danville, moving to Kingston in 1971. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Smith retired from Western Electric in 1972. He had previously worked for General Electric in Lynn, Mass., Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies in North Andover, Mass., and had been a machinist in Lawrence, Mass., mills. He enjoyed collecting model railroad sets. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gertrude (Martin) Smith of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.
