Barney Sr. EXETER - Robert Edward "Bob" Barney Sr., 69, of Pickpocket Road, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at his home. He was born March 4, 1934, in Malden, Mass., the son of the late Leslie and Helen (Upton) Barney. He was raised in Stoneham, Mass. He was a graduate of Stoneham High School, where he led the hockey team to many championships. His hockey talents granted him a scholarship to Boston University. Mr. Barney founded Hampton Machine Company in Raymond in 1965 and later developed his own line of equipment that revolutionized the leather industry, servicing equipment from France, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic. He was a member of many bank boards, youth hockey organizations, and local and state recreation communities. He was instrumental in the fund-raising efforts for Exeter Recreation Park and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and golfing. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly (Dionne) Barney of Exeter; two sons and their wives, Robert and Beverly Barney Jr. and Derek and Cindie Barney; one daughter and her husband, Alice and Andrew Boutillier; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Leslie Barney Jr. of New Jersey; three sisters, Agnes Pullcari of Danvers, Mass., Beverly Merino of California and Evelyn Barney of Massachusetts. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Inn of Hampton, 815 Lafayette Road, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833; to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110; or to The American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham , MA 01701. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. V. Raoul Rioux KINGSLEY, Mich. - V. Raoul Rioux, 92, of East M-113, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at his home. He was born in Fall River, Mass., the son of the late Victor and Adele (Drapeau) Rioux, and had lived in Providence, R.I., for many years, leaving in 1964 to reside in Raymond before moving to Kingsley. Mr. Rioux was an electroplater for the former American Jewelry Chain in Providence for many years. He was very active as a Boy Scout Ranger for many years and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor given in the Boy Scouts. The widower of M. Dorothy (Brookes) Rioux, he is survived by one son, Victor R. Rioux of Kingsley, with whom he made his home; one daughter; Sr. Gertrude, SCMC, of Baltic, Conn.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Rioux of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 16 siblings. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Providence. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Arrangements were by the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, Cranston, R.I.
