MARGARET DREW Margaret Drew, 87, of Stratford, died on February 23, 2004 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 25 from 6-9 p.m., at the Jenkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in North Stratford. A complete obituary will appear in next weekıs paper. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GORDON FLANDERS Gordon M. Flanders, 92, of North Conway, died on February 20, 2004 at the Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Conway. Born on July 29, 1911 in Stewartstown, he was the son of Irving and Nellie (Colby) Flanders. He lived in Greenfield, Mass., Northampton, Mass., and Brattleboro, Vt., for over thirty years before moving to Albany in 1976. Mr. Flanders had worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps at Gale River near Littleton, and he worked for Parker W. Tabor and John's Lodge both in Pittsburg. Gordon also worked for the Brattleboro Retreat, George Myers Farm in Greenfield, Mass., and the University of Massachusetts prior to moving to Albany. He also worked for the Ossipee School District prior to his retirement. The family includes a daughter, Sandra Bourassa of Bow; a son, Donald A. Flanders of Eagan, Minn.; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many great- and great-great-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Paquette, in 1943; his daughter, Nina Flanders, in 1984; his wife, Lucille Fulton Whitehouse, in 1999; a brother, Walter C. Flanders; and four sisters, Avis White, Augusta Flanders, Christie Flanders and Ruth Robie. Graveside services will be held in St. Brendan's Cemetery in Colebrook later in the spring. There will be private visiting hours for the family at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BRANDON GRAY Brandon P. Gray, 79, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown after a long illness. He was born on September 25, 1924 in Colebrook, the son of Everett and Mary Ellen (Daley) Gray. Mr. Gray attended Colebrook schools and was a 1942 graduate of Colebrook Academy. After working for a brief period he enlisted in the Navy where he served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was married to Ruth Huggins in April of 1947. After his discharge from the Navy he was employed as a civilian by the Army at the Signal Corps Headquarters in Fort Monmouth, N.J. After working as a Director for the Boy Scouts of America, he spent 20 years working for the American Cancer Society. He then moved to San Diego, Calif., where he was employed by a local law firm. Health reasons caused him to return to Colebrook in 2000. Mr. Gray was active in Alcoholics Anonymous, enjoyed classical music and served for several years in Newark, N.J., as a deacon for a local Catholic Church. Mr. Gray is survived by a son, James Gray of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Eileen Buser of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Sister Carol A. Gray of the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart, North Port, Ala.; two brothers, Francis Gray of Columbia and Gerald Gray of Mount Vernon, Iowa; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews . Calling hours are private. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 20 at St. Brendan's Church in Colebrook, officiated by the Reverend Albert Bellefeuille. Burial will in the spring at St. Brendanıs Cemetery in Colebrook. Those who wish to make donations in memory of Brandon P. Newman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ARLENE HEATH Mrs. Arlene M. Heath, 95, died on Sunday, February 22, 2004 at her home in West Springfield, Mass., after a long illness. Mrs. Heath was born on March 24, 1908 in Canaan, the daughter of the late William I. and Myrtie (Chamberlain) Dwinell. In 1959 she moved to West Springfield, and worked as a nanny and housekeeper until age 70. She became blind 22 years ago and lived alone until the age of 93. She was an inspiration to her family and those with whom she came in contact, and she never had a complaint. Mrs. Heath was married to Claude Heath. She is survived by two sons, Claude Heath of Harrison, Maine, and Guy Heath of Westbrook, Maine; four daughters, Claudia Dustin and Barbara Johnston, both of Colebrook; and Bertha Roberson and Claudette Weatherby of West Springfield; twenty grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Heath was preceded in death by her husband in 1940, and by a son, Sherwood Heath, and five brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday morning, February 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service will be held on the same day at 2 p.m. at the Monadnock Congregational Church in Colebrook, with the Rev. Edward Jager officiating. Burial will be in the Alice Hunt Cemetery in Canaan in the spring.
