HELEN DONATO Mrs. Helen T. (Burns) Donato, 75, of Errol, died on March 29, 2004 with her family at her side at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. Born on December 24, 1928 in Berlin, she was the daughter of Leo and Yvonne Parisee Burns. A resident of Errol for over 20 years, she also lived for many years in Gorham. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was president of the Akers Pond Assoc., the Friends of the Errol Public Library, affiliated with the Fish and Game Association, and involved with many other community activities that brought her enjoyment. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as owner and operator of the Errol Restaurant for many years. She had also worked at the Woolworth's Department Store for 30 years, as a cook for the VFW Post #2520, and at the Town and Country Motor Inn. A loving mother and grandmother, Helen greatly enjoyed knitting and sewing, and was always available to anyone who needed her. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She will be greatly missed by her children and family. Her husband, Salvatore "Toody" Donato died on October 23, 1988. She is survived by a son, David Donato and his wife Sandy of Berlin; two daughters, Judy LaBram and her husband Brett of Bushnell, Fla., and Linda Bilodeau and husband Jim of Gorham including nine grandchildren, Tammy (Letarte) Kenney and her husband Rob of Errol; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Philip Faucher and his wife Rita of Dummer, Robert Faucher and his wife Gloria of Berlin, and Richard Faucher and his wife Louise of Berlin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by a sister, Gloria Adams. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, April 1 at the Holy Family Church in Gorham, with burial at Holy Family Cemetery. Calling hours were held on Wednesday, March 31 at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home in Gorham. THELMA HALL Miss Thelma B. Hall, 96, of Colebrook, died on Sunday evening, April 4, 2004 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital. Miss Hall was born on September 22, 1907 in Bloomfield, daughter of the late William and Myra (Moulton) Hall. She grew up in Bloomfield and was graduated from Stratford High School, the only child of four to graduate from high school. She began her working career for the Willard Nugent family and on December 31, 1926, she began working for the Coös Telephone Company, later known as New England T&T, as a telephone operator. She worked as a telephone operator for over 40 years while also serving as a traveling operator in Laconia, Rochester and the Everett, Mass. area and finishing her distinguished career in Littleton, N.H. Miss Hall demonstrated a great love for her family, caring for her nephew, Wilfred Lara-mee, at a very young age, and other family members, such as her parents and siblings, enabling them to remain home rather than being placed in a nursing facility. She had many interests including gardening, fine needlework, sewing, cross-stitching, cooking and dining out. She also enjoyed dancing, and often frequented the Blue-bird Pavilion in her younger years. She was a meticulous housekeeper and enjoyed entertaining. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Bloomfield Methodist Church, while also generously supporting the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook. Miss Hall will be remembered for her devotion to family; for her life's philosophy, which is "every good piece of steel has a temper"; and for her zest for life. Miss Hall is survived by two cousins, Erva Kempton and Theo MacWilliams, both of Newport, N.H.; great-nieces and nephews Rebecca Borry and her husband Arthur of Alexandria, N.H., Bill Laramee of Colebrook, John Laramee and his wife Tina of Weare, Jim Laramee and his wife Debby of Gulfport, Fla. and Martha Laramee and her husband Jerry Crete of Hudson; four great-great nieces and nephews Megan Laramee, Patrick Borry, Marianne Borry and Norman Borry; her late nephew's wife, Pauline "Polly" Laramee of Colebrook; and her housekeeper and dear friend, Margaret Young of Colebrook. Miss Hall is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ella Hughes and Wilma Stone; her brother, Merton Hall; and two nephews, Wilfred Laramee and Robert Stone. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 9 from 9-11 a.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook, with The Reverend Priscilla Hull officiating. JOHN KALLANDER John Bernard Kallander, 73, of Goffstown and Pittsburg, died on April 2, 2004. Born on June 12, 1930, in Framingham, Mass., he was the son of Ernest L. Kallander and Anna Marie Kallander. He grew up in Framingham and South-borough, Mass., where he was graduated from Peters High School in 1950. He was graduated from Central New England College in 1952 and from Boston Univer-sity in 1954. He also studied at Columbia University, the University of South Carolina and the University of Chicago. He was also a graduate instructor for Dale Carnagie Courses in public speaking. He worked in advertising management positions for several newspapers, retired from the Union Leader and New Hampshire Sunday News as assistant advertising director in 1995. Mr. Kallander was also a lay minister for the First Congregational Church in Manchester for 15 years, a member there since 1980. After retirement he was a substitute teacher at Goffstown High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War, attached to the 18th Airborne Corps. His interests were American History, hunting and fishing, antique gun collecting and wine making. The family includes his wife, Joan; two daughters, Lynn, of Townsend, Mass., and Sara, of Goffstown; and a son, Paul, of Weare; three brothers, David, of Harrison, Maine; and Peter and Ernest of Southborough, Mass.; a sister, Susan, of Westbroofield, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; and one grandson. After cremation, there will be a memorial service on Friday, April 16, at 2 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 508 Union St., Manchester. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Union Leader Santa Fund. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is handling arrangements. CHARLES ROBBINS Charles Arthur Robbins Jr., 74, died early on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after a sudden illness. He was born on January 1, 1930 in Quincy, Mass., the son of Charles and Annie (Brunette) Robbins, and attended school in Massachusetts. He was married to Carolyn Walker on December 20, 1952. Mr. Robbins was first employed as a clam digger, then worked as a machinist for Boston Gear works in Wolla-ston, Mass., and later as a truck driver for JP Newnan and Roy Amey. He also served as a fireman and rescue diver for the Pembroke, Mass., fire department. He moved to Pittsburg in the mid-1980s and was the supervisor of the Pittsburg Transfer Station for many years. Mr. Robbins is survived by his wife, Carolyn Robbins of Pittsburg; four daughters, Linda Robbins Porazzo of Pembroke, Mass., Lois Pento of Halifax, Mass., Lorrie Byrnes of Pitts-burg and Leanne Kelley of Pembroke, Mass.; four brothers, Donald, Francis, Howard and Albert Robbins, all of Massachusetts; a sister, Marjorie Plant of Massachusetts; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and George Robbins, and a sister, Barbara Robbins. Private family calling hours were held on Saturday, April 3. DENIS ROULEAU Mr. Denis Rouleau, 46, of Columbia, died suddenly on Monday, March 29, 2004 at his home. Mr. Rouleau was born on August 30, 1957 in Tupper Lake, N.Y., son of Robert and Jeannine (Desautels) Rouleau. He was self-employed as a logger. His interests included gardening and raising horses, and he was considered an avid sportsman. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Mr. Rouleau is survived by his daughter, Emily Rouleau of Colebrook; two stepdaughters, Ellen Mills and Laura Mills, both of Columbia; his mother, Jeannine Boire of Colebrook; his brothers and sisters, Micheline Lambert and her husband Bruno of Manchester, Peter Rouleau and his wife Nancy of Columbia, Diane Walsh and her husband Thomas of Manchester, Judy Erbaker and her husband John of Holiday, Fla., Serge Rouleau and his wife Diane of Colebrook, Francoise Johnson and her husband Scott of Newmarket, Jocelyn Boire and his wife Iola of West Stewartstown, Germain Boire and his wife Gaetane of Colebrook, Blandine Shallow of Jefferson, Helen Phillips of Hampstead, Norman Boire and his wife Alicia, and Rita Gilbert and her husband Mike, all of Colebrook; a granddaughter, Natalie Rou-leau of Colebrook; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Rouleau was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rouleau, on September 12, 1995, and his stepfather, Hervé Boire, on March 2, 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at St. Brendan's Roman Catholic Church, with The Reverend Albert Bellefeuille as celebrant. Tobyne, 76, of Lancaster, died on Monday evening, March 29, 2004 at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster. Mrs. Tobyne was born in Northumberland on May 25, 1927, the daughter of Erastus and Mary (Silver) Blodgett. She was raised in Stratford Hollow and educated in Stratford schools. On August 28, 1946 she was married to Rev. Ralph S. Tobyne of Lunenburg, Vt., and they later moved to West Warren, Mass. She worked for 20 years at W.E. Wright, Inc., of West Warren. The couple later moved to Brownington Center, Vt., where Ralph was the pastor of the Brownington Center Church. In 1996 they returned to New Hampshire, where they shared an apartment at the McKee Inn in Lancaster. As a pastor's wife, Mrs. Tobyne devoted much of her time assisting Ralph within the ministry. She was also an avid volunteer, providing even more time to the communities where she resided, including service as a Hospice volunteer. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts. Family members include her husband Ralph of Lancaster; a son, Jerry Tobyne and his wife Shelia of Lancaster; a sister, Dorothy Baker of Franklin; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers, Elsworth, Ralph, Everett, and Leslie. Visiting hours were held on Wednesday evening, March 31 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service was held on Thursday at the Advent Christian Church in Whitefield. The Rev. Lou Going, pastor, co-officiated with Rev. Dean A. Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church. Interment will be held at a later date in Erastus Blodgett lot in Center Cemetery, Stratford.
