IRENE MORRISSETTE Irene F. (Dumont) Morrissette, 91, of Berlin, died on April 17, 2004 at home. Born in St. Lambert de Levis, P.Q., Canada, on August 17, 1912, she was the daughter of Antoine and Rose Anna (Pelchat) Dumont. She lived in Berlin most of her life. She co-managed Morrissette's Food Mart for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish, and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was an avid card player and loved to camp at Akers Pond. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting and sewing. The family includes a son, Paul Morrissette of Berlin; a daughter, Mrs. Roger ³Pete² (Joan) Villeneuve of Errol; four grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Roy of Berlin; a nephew and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur A. Morrissette. Calling hours were held on Monday at Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave. in Berlin. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment was held in St. Kieran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the A.V.H. MANSEL SMITH Mansel Arthur Smith, 79, of Raymond, died on April 14, 2004 at Wellstone House, where he had been a resident since June, 2002. Born on January 31, 1925, in Columbia, he was the son of Arthur and Rosina J. (Grapes) Smith. He was a graduate of Groveton High School. Before moving to Raymond, he was a resident of Brookview Mobile Home Park in Groveton for nine years and lived at 14 Winter Street for 41 years. He was a veteran of the Army, serving from December 1948 to December 1949 attending Camp Gordon Georgia Radio Operator School for the 20th Signal Air Ground Liaison Company. He reenlisted in July 1950 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany, as a radio operator. He was stationed in Germany until July 1953, where he received the Army of Occupation Medal and met his wife, Charlotte. Before retiring, he worked from May 1954 to September 1986 for James River Corp. as a shift foreman. He was a member of American Legion Fredonwarrell Post, Groveton, since 1954. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. The family includes his wife, Susan Smith, of Belleville, Mich.; a son, Peter Smith, of Belleville, Mich.; a granddaughter, a grandson, and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette (Smith) DuPuis, of Somersworth. Calling hours were held on Saturday at Main-Armstrong Funeral Home, 59 State St., Groveton. Services followed at the funeral home, with the Rev. Peter Parent, pastor of Groveton United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Northumberland Cemetery. Family condolences can be sent to www.legacy.com. HECTOR TURGEON Hector O. Turgeon, 84, died on April 13, 2004 at the Genesis Health Care Facility in Lancaster after a brief illness. He was born on April 19, 1919 in Buckland, P.Q., Canada, the son of Alphonse and Alice (Chabot) Turgeon. Mr. Turgeon attended school in Canada. He was a self-employed truck driver most of his life. He first drove in Canada then moved to the United States in 1947. He married Germaine Langlais on October 23, 1954. In addition to driving he worked for Ethan Allen Furniture in Beecher Falls from 1970 until 1982. Mr. Turgeon enjoyed working and dedicated much of his time in service to St. Albert Church and St. Albert school in West Stewartstown. Mr. Turgeon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Germaine Turgeon, of Stewartstown; a son, Guy Turgeon of Clarksville; a daughter, Ginette Turgeon of Lebanon; a brother, Raymond Turgeon of Buckland, P.Q., Canada; five sisters, Adrienne Boutet of Quebec City, Adeline Paquette of Montreal, Marie-Claire Phillips of Fernie, British Columbia, Aline Prud, Homme of Laval, P.Q. and Alice Nicol of Charney, P.Q.; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by four sisters, Leda, Lucienne, Eveline and Emielieme, and two brothers, Gerard and Leo. Calling hours were held April 16 at the Newman Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, April 17 at St. Albert Church in West Stewartstown, officiated by the Reverend Craig Cheney. Burial will be at St. Albert Cemetery in Stewartstown.
