ANITA CAISSE Anita Caisse, 88, of Somerset, Mass., died on Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, Mass. She was born on September 12, 1915 in Bonsecours, Quebec, the daughter of Osias and Exzelinda (David) Rivard. Mrs. Caisse attended school in Canada and was married to Arthur Beauregard in 1936. The couple moved to East Taunton, Mass., and later to Woonsocket, R.I., where Mrs. Caisse worked in a local woolen mill during World War II. In 1949 she moved to Canaan, where she and her husband purchased and managed a dairy farm. After selling the farm in the early 1960s she moved back to Attleboro, Mass., where she worked for Balfour, Inc. Her husband Arthur passed away in 1972 and she was married to Emile Caisse in 1979. The couple settled in Somerset, where she resided at the time of her death. Mrs. Caisse enjoyed quilting, playing cards, sewing and crocheting. She is survived by her husband, Emile Caisse of Somerset; a son, Richard Beauregard of Canaan; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur, and by thirteen brothers and sisters. Calling hours were held Friday, July 1 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Assumption Church in Canaan on Friday morning, with burial following at St. Brendan's Cemetery in Colebrook. EDWARD COX Edward Eugene Cox, 63, of Colebrook, died on Sunday night, July 4, 2004 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. He was born on April 30, 1941 in Concord, the son of Edward E. and Bertha (Sullivan) Cox. He attended school in the Concord area, and served in the Army during the late 1950s and early '60s. He was married to Virginia Mary Hunt on November 18, 1972. Mr. Cox was employed as a repairman by woolen mills in Suncook until his retirement in the late 1990s; he moved to Colebrook in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and taking trips on the Mount Washington scenic boat. Edward E. Cox is survived by his wife of 31 years, Virginia Cox of Colebrook; a son, Howard Cox and his wife Angie of Readfield, Maine; a daughter, Kim; five brothers and five sisters; and three grandchildren. Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, July 9 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Internment services will be private. LEOPOLD "PAUL" LAVIGNE Leopold "Paul" Lavigne of Canaan died at the Concord Hospital on Monday, July 5, 2004. Calling hours will be held at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 9, and 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10. A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by the Rev. Craig Cheney will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Assumption Church in Canaan. Burial will follow at St. Brendan's Catholic Cemetery in Colebrook. A full obituary will appear in next week's paper. MATTHEW MAGEE Matthew Michael Magee Jr., 36, of Manchester, died on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., following injuries he sustained in an auto accident. He was born on May 13, 1968 in Derry, son of Matthew Magee Sr. of Horn Lake, Miss., and Doris Goyette of Cape Coral, Fla. He was a grandson of the late Bert and Evelyn Phillips of Colebrook. Mr. Magee worked for many years at White Mountain Cable. He was a blues musician and a composer, and was known as Matt "Guitar" Magee. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, and watching the Red Sox on television. His greatest joy was spending time with his children. Survivors include his loving wife, Katherine (Brocato) Magee of Manchester; his father, Matthew Magee Sr. and wife Sharon; his mother, Doris (Phillips) Goyette and husband Gerard; a son, Riley Magee of Windham; two stepsons, Ryan Brocato and Alexander Brocato, both of Manchester; two daughters, Olivia Rose Magee of Manchester and Makenzie Magee of Windham; a brother, Jeffrey Magee of Horn Lake, Miss.; two sisters, Jennifer Reynolds and husband William of Southaven, Miss., and Colleen Magee of Horn Lake, Miss.; three nieces and two nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson, N.H.
