HAZEL JONAH Hazel E. Jonah, 92, formerly of Essex Jct., Vt., and Laconia, N.H., died at the Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vt., on Wednesday, July 28, 2004. She was the widow of Harley H. Jonah, who died in 1986. Mrs. Jonah was born on July 7, 1912 in Bloomfield, the daughter of Christopher C. and Blanche Belle (Lurvey) Graham. She was a former resident of Barre, Vt., and Connecticut, and was employed by Pratt & Whitney. Survivors include two sisters and two brothers, Harriette Barriteau of Long Island, N.Y., Carmelita Lang of E. Hartford, Conn., Reginald Graham of Burlington, Vt. and Edmund Graham of Colchester, Vt.; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Richard H. Jonah, in October, 1992; and by her sisters and brothers, Marion Scott, Charlotte Cook, Elsina LaFontaine, Thomas Graham and Earl Graham. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 11 at 2 p.m. at the family lot in Fairview Cemetery, Stratford. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Laconia is in charge of the arrangements. CLAUDE HUBBARD Claude F. Hubbard, 50, of Colebrook, died on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital. He was born on May 4, 1954 in West Stewartstown, son of the late Forest and Ann Roby Hubbard. Mr. Hubbard honorably served in the Army for two years, and later lived in numerous states while working in construction. He loved to vacation and fish in the Bahamas, and also enjoyed visiting with friends and family on the phone. He will be remembered for his genuine willingness to help a friend or family member in a time of need. Mr. Hubbard is survived by his three sons, Scott C. Hubbard of Williston, Vt., Samson F. Hubbard and his wife Joanna of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Donald R. Hubbard of Gardiner, Maine; a brother, Sherry Belknap of Bloomfield; a sister, Shirley Thibeault of Beecher Falls; two grandsons and a granddaughter. Mr. Hubbard's family received friends on Saturday afternoon, August 7 at the Jenkins Funeral Home. A graveside service immediately followed at the Colebrook Village Cemetery, with The Reverend Robert Levesque officiating. HORACE WOOD Horace Denton Wood 62, of Colebrook, died early on August 6, 2004 after a long battle with diabetes. He was born on October 7, 1941 in Newton, Mass., the son of Horace D. and Beatrice (O. Price) Wood Jr. Mr. Wood was a 1960 graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, Mass., and went on to attend Northeastern University. He was married to Patricia A. Cope on October 31, 1969. Mr. Wood worked as a truck driver by trade, but also served for 24 years as a part time police officer for the Town of Epping. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, outdoor work and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Wood of Colebrook; a daughter, Catherine M. Dean of Bristol, Pa.; three sons, Scott B. Dean of Epping, Christopher B.D. Wood of Raymond, and Horace D. Wood IV of Fremont; his mother, Beatrice O. Wood; a brother, R. Bruce Wood; and a sister, Judith A. Wood, all of Bonita Springs, Fla.; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held on Tuesday morning, August 10 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. Funeral services followed at the funeral home that afternoon. Burial will be private.
