RICHARD LEACH Richard D. "Dick" Leach of Richland, Wash., died on Sunday, August 29, 2004. Dick was born in Colebrook on September 25, 1932. He was the third of four children born to Homer and Nellie Leach. He spent his growing-up years in Errol. After high school he went into the Navy, where he proudly served his country for 21 years. In 1957 he went to Idaho to attend the second class that went through nuclear power school. He helped build the USS Long Beach, CGN9, and was stationed aboard her three times. He was married to Dottie in 1956. They were married for 48 years and they had three fantastic children. After retiring from the Navy in 1972, he worked as an engineer at four different nuclear power plants around the country. The last 10 years he worked for Bechtel; he had to retire in 1992 due to ill health. At this time he took up woodworking and made wooden toys and trains, which were loved by many friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Dottie Leach; three children, Richard D. Leach Jr., Julie Gross, Tim Leach and his wife Marty; three grandchildren; a brother, Landon Leach; a sister, Quinceana Edmonds; and a sister and brother in-law, Elaine and George Adams. A memorial service was held at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland on Friday, September 3. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Dick's name to Kadlec Foundation, 888 Swift Blvd. Richland, WA 99352. EDWIN SMITH Edwin O. Smith, 65, of Brooksville, Fla., formerly of Colebrook and Epsom, N.H., died on August 29, 2004 at Hospice in Brooksville after a period of failing health. Born on November 3, 1938 in Stratford, he was the son of Glenn and Ruth (Kenny) Smith. He served in the Army from 1962 to 1965. The family includes is wife, Juanita L. Smith of Brooksville; a daughter, Sara Stanley of Claremont, N.H.; three grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Kenny of Errol; William Smith of Tucson, Ariz., Herbert Smith of Columbia and Howard Smith of Manchester; four sisters, Rose LaRoche of Ocala, Fla., Alice Huntley of Raymond, N.H., June Erao of Londonderry, N.H. and Jennie Ayotte of Port Richey, Fla. Graveside services were held on Wednesday morning at McClary Cemetery in Epsom. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hernando/Pasco Hospice, 1114 Chatman Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34601.
