GERARD "JAY" DUPUIS Gerard P. "Jay" Dupuis, 86, formerly of Berlin and Errol, and Winnisquam, died on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the Coös County Nursing Home in Berlin, where he had been residing. He was born in Berlin on November 21, 1917, the son of Napoleon and Marie Turgeon Dupuis. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Dupuis was a member of the St. Pius X Parish in Errol, where he had served as a lector. Prior to his retirement in 1972, he had been self-employed as owner, operator and founder of Jay's Marina in Winnisquam, where he resided while in business. He was also a Mt. Washington Auto Road Stage Driver. Jay was an artisan of wood carvings depicting water fowl and other wildlife. He was an enthusiastic member of the Loon Preservation Society. He enjoyed many wonderful years wintering in Florida and summering at Akers Pond in Errol with his family. He was a World War II veteran of the Army, having served in the European Theater and attained the rank of corporal. His first wife, Eugenia Dumont, died on October 9, 1993. He is survived by his present wife, Doris (Lambert) Laplante Dupuis of Berlin; a son Paul Dupuis and his wife Sue of Meredith; a daughter, Susanne Fecteau and her husband Arthur of Tilton; a daughter-in-law, Susan Dupuis of Errol; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Dupuis of Arlington, Va., and Raymond Dupuis of Milan; two sisters, Gertrude Rossignol of Biddeford, Maine, and Pauline McKelvey of Berlin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his first wife, he is predeceased by a son, Denis Dupuis, who died on July 17, 2003; by a brother, Benoit Dupuis; and three sisters, Jeannette Massey, Florence Massey and Rejeanne Fletcher. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday morning, September 10 at the St. Pius X Church in Errol. Interment followed at St. Pius X Forest Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours were held on Friday at the St. Pius X Church in Errol. The Fleury-Patry Funeral Home of Berlin is caring for the arrangements. TONY HEBERT Tony Hebert, 92, of Bloomfield, died on Monday, September 13, 2004 in Bloomfield. Tony was born on February 9, 1912 in St. Edwidge, Quebec, as one of 10 children to the late Jean Baptiste and Aglee (Martineau) Hebert. He moved to the United States and settled in Bloomfield in February, 1947. His wife Lucienne (Tremblay) Hebert and son Yvon A. Hebert, who was killed in Vietnam, preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Angela Hebert St. Cyr of Berlin and Monique Hebert Washburn of Colebrook; a son, Claude J. Hebert, of Grand Haven, Mich., five grandsons and a granddaughter; ten great-grandchildren; sons-in-law Wilfred C. Washburn Jr. of Colebrook, and Richard St. Cyr of Berlin; and daughter-in-law Rita Minkler Hebert of Grand Haven, Mich. Tony enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the happiest when the house was full of family, which it was on a weekly basis. Early on, Tony was self-employed in the trucking business, and worked at the plywood plant in North Stratford, among other jobs. He was a steward at the Stratford VFW Post, operated the Bloomfield Hotel bar and restaurant, and worked for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation for 21 years. He served the Village of Bloomfield for 20 years as town constable and tax collector. He retired at the age of 80 so he could enjoy his recreational sports. Tony was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler. He enjoyed cutting firewood and logs, and continued cutting until he was 92. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in North Stratford, with The Reverend Daniel Deveau as celebrant. Jordan, 86, of Errol, died on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown. Mr. Jordan was born on April 29, 1918 in West Stewartstown, son of the late Zack and Rosie (Covell) Jordan. At an early age he worked in the woods as a cutter, and was one of the original linemen for the Errol Power Company. He was employed as a mechanic at the Eames Garage and later co-owned and operated the Errol Esso Service Station with his late wife. He also worked as a mechanic for Currier Trucking, worked for the State of New Hampshire Highway Department, and at the Errol Dam until his retirement at the age of 80. He will be remembered as a great outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He also operated his own sugar house and served as a member of the Errol Bicentennial Committee and the Errol Guide Show at Akers Pond. Mr. Jordan is survived by his daughter, Elaine Gray and her husband Sheldon of Colebrook; a brother, James Jordan and his wife Char of Fallbrook, Calif.; two sisters, Charlotte Jeffers of Colebrook and Beverly Hylwa of Lancaster; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Jordan is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary D. "Polly" (Bennett) Jordan, on September 16, 1992; his parents; a brother, Linwood "Pud" Jordan; and five sisters, Myrtle Jordan, Madalyn Pilbro, Leona Gadwah, Mamie Jordan and Ida Martel. Calling hours will be private. A funeral service was conducted on Tuesday afternoon, September 14 at the Errol Congregational Church, with Pastor Larry Clough officiating. An interment service followed at the Errol Village Cemetery.
