NORMA HAMMOND Norma J. Hammond, 78, of Holderness and Concord, died on December 9, 2004 at Concord Hospital after cardiac surgery. Mrs. Hammond was born in West Paris, Maine, on October 31, 1926, the daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine (Hall) Johnson. She was raised in North Stratford, where she graduated from high school in 1944. She later attended Plymouth Teachers College. She was married to Everett G. Hammond in 1947, lived in Plymouth until moving to Holder-ness in 1975, and was employed by the U.S. Forest Service in Plymouth until retiring in 1893. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church. Family members include a daughter, Susan Butts of Concord; a son, David Everett Hammond of Eagle, Colo.; sisters Erma Sherwood of Charl-otte, N.C., Belva Graham of Bloomfield and Dover; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett G. Hammond, a brother, Robert S. Johnson, and a sister, Eda J. Boudle. Calling hours were held at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Plymouth on Sunday afternoon. The funeral was at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Plymouth on Monday, co-celebrated by the Rev. John Davies of Plymouth Congregational Church and Pastor David Keller of the First Congregational Church of Concord. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth, at a later date. DIANE MCKEARNEY Diane Daland McKearney, 61, of Rockport, Maine, died on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born on June 20, 1943 in Salem, Mass., the daughter of L. Owen and Sally Meserve. Diane grew up in Fitzwilliam, N.H., and was graduated from Troy High School in Troy, N.H. She attended Simmons College in Boston. She worked for the Crotched Mountain Foundation for disabled children and the N.H. Department of Tourism, and assisted the director of the International Tennis Tournament at Bretton Woods at the Mount Washington Hotel. The tennis tournament evolved into the Volvo Tennis Tournament. Diane started a career in banking at the Whitefield Savings Bank in Whitefield. In 1982, she moved to Maine and continued banking with Peoples Heritage Bank, working there for over 20 years. She worked in the Camden and Thomaston branches, and retired from the Rockland branch. In her retirement she worked part time at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, in the admitting department. She was a member of Rockland District Nursing Association, a member and treasurer of St. John Baptist Episcopal Church in Thomaston, and was past president of the Zonta women's group. She was an avid golfer and hunter. In her younger years she played tennis and loved to ski. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Robert "Tom" McKearney of Rockport and formerly of Pittsburg; son Christ-opher McKearney and his wife Michelle of Thomaston and Winter Park, Colo.; stepdaughter Molly Staples and her husband Bill of Maryland; stepson Thomas McKearney and his wife Deb of Maryland; half-brother Jack Elliott of Florida; and two grandchildren. She was laid to rest in the Rockville Cemetery in the family plot. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Knox County, PO Box 1294, Rockland 04841.
