CLEO BENNETT Cleo C. (Linnell) Bennett, 85, of Colebrook, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at her home, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bennett was born on February 7, 1919 in Magalloway, Maine, daughter of the late Claude and Mildred (Storey) Linnell, Sr. She was graduated from the Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. A loving mother and homemaker, she began working for the Errol Restaurant as a pastry cook in 1972 after the passing of her husband, Lauren Bennett. In 1981 she began working for Debbie Tillotson at the Balsams Gift Shop until her recent illness prevented her from returning to work. She was a past member of the Aziscohos Grange and loved to tend to her flower gardens. She also enjoyed traveling with her son Warren and his wife, Angel. She will be remembered for her love of family and her many friends. Mrs. Bennett is survived by her son, Warren Bennett and wife Angel of Wilsons Mills, Maine; her daughter, Patricia Bennett of Colebrook; a brother, Claude Linnell Jr. of Fryeburg, Maine; a sister, Edna Williams of Stewartstown; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Bennett is preceded in death by her husband, Lauren Bennett, on March 8, 1972; two sons, Maurice Bennett and Ronald Bennett; and three sisters, Elva Jordan, Eunice Thurs-ton and Eleanor McDonald. Calling hours were held on Thursday evening, December 23 at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service was conducted on Friday morning, December 24 at the Spalding Memorial Chapel in Wilsons Mills, with Pastor Larry Clough officiating. An interment service will follow at the Lincoln Plantation Cemetery in Wilsons Mills. Corey, 87, of Franklin, died on December 26, 2004 at Franklin Regional Hospital Skilled Care Unit after a lengthy illness. Born in Malden, Mass., on November 7, 1917, he was the son of Edwin H. Corey and Jennie (Rowe) Corey. He grew up in Everett, Mass, and attended Everett High School. He had lived in Dor-chester, Braintree, Abington and East Bridgewater, Mass., and Derry and Thornton before moving to Franklin 19 years ago. From 1949 to 1982, Mr. Corey was a plant superintendent at the Gillette Co. in Andover, Mass. He enjoyed being a handyman and was a jack-of-all-trades. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Viola M. (Rounds) Corey. The family includes his wife of 19 years, Emma (Schuster) Corey of Franklin; three daughters, Barbara Sellingham of Thornton, Jean Burrill of Pittsburg and Shirley Dubeau of Salem, Conn.; a son, Paul Corey of East Bridgewater; two stepdaughters, Monika Farrington of Derry and Ann Farrington of Derry; a stepson, Michael Farrington of Sanbornton; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. Calling hours will be held today, Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.L. Young and Company Memorial Home in Franklin. The funeral is on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the memorial home, with Mr. Corey's son-in-law, the Rev. Timothy B. Dubeau, pastor of Congregational Church of Salem, Conn., officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Mad River Cemetery in Thornton. Refreshments and fellowship will be at the home of Freeman and Barbara Sellingham, 29 Church Street, Thornton, after the services at the cemetery. Greta May Dow, 81, of Ossipee, died on December 20, 2004 at Mountain View Nursing Home. She was born on January 1, 1923 in Canaan, to the Rev. William H. and Nellie (Potter) May. In 1939 she moved to Ossipee, and was married to Roland Dow of Tuftonboro in 1945. She began her ministry in Effingham in 1965 and was ordained in 1969. She pastored churches including Union Church in Porter, Maine; Tuftonboro Corner Church; Carroll County chaplain; and Wolfeboro Falls Baptist Church in Wolfeboro. She moved to Cavendish, Vt., in 1979 to pastor in the Cavendish Baptist Church, where she served for 10 years before retiring to Effingham. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was predeceased by her husband. Family members include sons Chester D. Dow, Wayne A. Dow of Wolfeboro, Don L. Dow of Nashua and Stephen R. Dow of Milton Mills; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Callings hours were held on Monday evening at Lord Funeral Home in Wolfeboro. The funeral was on Tuesday morning at Wolfeboro Falls Baptist Church, with The Rev. David Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Chickville Cemetery, Center Ossipee, in the spring. JOHN HURLBERT John R. Hurlbert, 61, of Colebrook, died suddenly at his home on Monday, December 20, 2004. Mr. Hurlbert was born in Maine on September 2, 1943 the son of Gordon and Helena (Harding) Hurlbert. A lifelong resident of Cole-brook, Mr. Hurlbert graduated from Colebrook Academy, Class of 1961. He worked on the family farm in East Colebrook and was employed at Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen for a short period of time. He moved with his wife, Pauline (Marier) Hurlbert, to Penacook, to work on a farm. He returned with his family to the North Country and worked in the shipping department of Wausau Paper Company in Groveton, retiring early after 30 years of employment. He will be remembered as a houndsman, and enjoyed time spent hunting with his sons, his brother and nephew. Mr. Hurlbert is survived by two sons, Garth Hurlbert and his wife Cassie of Columbia, and Eric Hurlbert and his wife Samantha of Canaan; his parents, Gordon and Helena Hurlbert of West Stewartstown; his brother, Guy Hurlbert and his wife Dale of Colebrook; his sister, Sharon Daughtery and her husband Duffy of Oakton, Va.; a granddaughter whom he raised from an early age, Brittany Hurlbert; two grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hurlbert is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Hurlbert, and his daughter, Michelle Hurlbert. (Bourassa) LeBlanc, 85, of Stratford and formerly of Berlin, died on Monday morning, December 27, 2004 at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, where she had been a patient for a few days. She was born in St. Hermenegilde, Quebec, on July 1, 1919, the daughter of Alfred and Amanda Fortin Bourassa. A resident of Berlin for most of her life, Adela was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, now known as good Shepherd Parish. A homemaker, Mrs. LeBlanc was a loving and giving person who dedicated her life to her family, with whom she greatly enjoyed her time. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and knitting mittens for needy kids. At Christmas, everyone looked forward to seeing her and having some of her delicious meat pies. Her husband, Leo J. LeBlanc, died on July 1, 1966. She is survived by two sons, Leo LeBlanc and his wife Lorraine of Dummer, and Richard LeBlanc and friend Barbara of Stratford; seven daughters, Lorraine Lacasse of Parker, Colo., Irene Ball of Knoxville, Tenn., Pauline Goud-reau and her husband Andres of Stratford, Aline Costa and her husband Don of Union, N.H., Jacqueline Langlois of Gorham, Florence Ball and friend Dick of Warner, and Shirley Deth and her husband Walter of Morgan, Vt.; 33 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Rosario Bourassa and his wife Dolores, and Leopold Bourassa and his wife Olive, all of Berlin; two sisters, Marie Ange Bernier and Rose Aline Kelly, both of Berlin; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Odias (Olive) Bourassa; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her longtime companion, Charles Fortier; by six brothers, Josephat, Odias, Arthur, Philip, Freddie and Oliva Bourassa; by two sisters, Rose Alba Fortin and Rebecca Duchesnaye. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 31 at 1 p.m. at St. Anne of Good Shepherd Church, with interment at St. Kieran Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home in Berlin. THOMAS MOODY Thomas D. Moody, 73, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., husband of Geraldine Anderson Moody for 50 years, died on Sunday, December 26, 2004 at his residence. A native of New York City, he was the son of the late Robert King Moody and Blanca de Pinillos Moody, and has lived on Amelia Island for the past eight years after relocating from Rhode Island. Mr. Moody re-ceived a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Rhode Island. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller and then as a data systems specialist for 30 years. He later worked for U.F.O. of Boston, Mass. as an air traffic consultant. Mr. Moody was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and had served his country in the Navy for five years during the Korean War. He enjoyed hiking, golfing, boating, sailing, and gardening in his spare time. The family includes his wife, Geraldine; a son, Thomas and his wife Theresa Moody of Canaan; a daughter, Patricia Moody of Providence, R.I.; a sister, Carmen and her husband Jerry Cooney of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and four grandsons. Private interment will be held at a later date in Canaan. Willard, 68, of Marshfield, Vt., died on December 22, 2004 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born on May 18, 1936 in Plainfield to Wesley and Violet (Halvosa) Willard. He was graduated from Plainfield High School in 1956. From July, 1956 to December, 1959 he served in the Air Force, stationed in England. He later served in the Air Force Reserve. He was married to Carolyn Eastman in 1957, and from 1975 to 1999 they owned and operated the Umbagog Lake Camp Ground in Errol. Flying was a special interest, and he owned his own plane. He also enjoyed traveling and fly fishing. The family includes his wife Carolyn of Marshfield; two daughters, Robin Brosmer of Orlando, Fla., and Cynthia Gaudette of Milford, N.H.; two brothers, Thomas Willard of Hartland and William Willard of Live Oak, Fla.; two sisters, Kay Roberts of Plainfield and Marlene Willard of East Montpelier; a grandson; several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. There are no calling hours. A graveside service is planned for Vermont Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center in the spring.
