Dorr Owned Four Dorrs Restaurant LANCASTER -- Edward T. Dorr, 87, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a long illness. Mr. Dorr was born in Jefferson on November 16, 1916, a son of Flossie (Corrigan) Hartford and Cola Dorr. He was graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1937 and then served his country during World War II as a member of the Air Force. After the war he was married to Eleanor E. Dorr in February of 1946. They returned to Lancaster where he started a long career in the restaurant business, first as owner of HicksÕ Restaurant and then the Four Dorrs Snack Bar, which was built up to the Four Dorrs Restaurant. It was his labor of love until he sold it to his son Robert some years later. Eddie was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. Family members include two sons, Edward T. Dorr Jr. of Lancaster and Robert Dorr of Alaska; a sister, Verne Eastman of Lancaster; a brother, Wilbur Hartford of Rochester; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. His wife, Eleanor died in 2002. Visiting hours were held on Saturday, June 5 at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service with military honors was held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery, Jefferson. The Rev. Dr. Thomas W. Bentum, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, officiated. Donations may be made in his memory to Weeks Home Health Services, 278 Main Street, Lancaster, NH 03584. Dorothy I. Hill Taught in Groveton BOW -- Dorothy I. Hill, 66, died on Sunday morning, June 6, 2004 at Concord Hospital. She was born in Guildhall, Vt., the daughter of Albert and Beatrice (Styles) McAllister. Mrs. Hill was an elementary school teacher in Barre, Vt., Zion, Ill., Seattle, Wash., Virginia Beach, Va., and Groveton. She was a graduate of Groveton High School and Lyndon State College in Lyndon, Vt. The family includes her husband of 41 years, Donald L. Hill of Bow; a daughter, Becky Smith of Concord; a son, Scott Hill of Somerville, Mass.; two granddaughters, Sarah and Laura Smith of Concord; two brothers, Albert McAllister of Guildhall, Vt. and Richard McAllister of Amesbury, Mass.; one sister, Jenny (McAllister) Wheeler of Lancaster. A daughter, Kristy Jo Hill died in 1970. Calling hours were held on Tuesday, June 8 at the Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 9 at the funeral home. Burial followed at the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster with the Rev. David Pendleton, pastor of the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Bob Owen Led an interesting life STEWARTSTOWN -- Bob Owen, 79, died early on Sunday morning, June 6, 2004 at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield. He was born on February 28, 1925 in Stewartstown. Mr. Owen lived a very interesting life. He attended North Hill School in Stewartstown and as a young man transported guests to the Hurlbert sporting camps with a team of horses and sleigh. He worked in the woods for his uncle Bill Owen, skidding logs and driving teams. He hauled canned milk for another uncle Nelson Owen. He worked in construction for Clyde Gray for over 20 years while also driving truck for Lewis Oil from Portland, Me. during the winter months. His employment also included working for Lucien Dion for 10 years and for George Gould, running a payloader. He operated a hydraulic loader for Warren ÒPicÓ Haynes. Mr. Owen retired in 1982, but continued working part time for the McAllaster farm in Stewartstown until his health would not allow him to continue. The family includes Rod McAllaster, his wife Donna and son Paul of Stewartstown; a brother, Peter Daley of Lemington, Vt.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. His mother, Almore Owen Daley and a brother, John Daley died previously. Calling hours were held on Tuesday, June 8 at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9 (today) at the North Hill Church in Stewartstown, with Pastor Larry Clough officiating. An interment service will follow at the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery. Clauss, 81, who died on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 13, at 1, in St. PaulÕs Memorial Garden, Lancaster. The Rev. David Rose, pastor of St. PaulÕs Church, will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Frank B. Currier MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Frank B. Currier, 90, of Mount Dora, Fla. died on January 2, 2004 after a lengthy period of poor health. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 in the Northumberland Cemetery, Groveton, with the Rev. Curtis Smith officiating. Main-Armstrong Funeral Home, Groveton is assisting the family with arrangements.
