Berry Enjoyed family and friends TWIN MOUNTAIN -- Edwina I. Berry of Twin Mountain, died at home on June 15, 2004, after a brief but gracious battle with cancer, with her loving companion, William J. Matthews and family by her side. She was born in Groveton on December 11, 1931, the daughter of Edward and Katie (Baird) Ball. She lived in Bath, N.Y., for many years before returning to New Hampshire a year after the death of her husband, Edwin L. Berry. She traveled to Juneau, Ak. with the light of her life, William J. Matthews. She lived there for two-and-a-half years before returning home to Twin Mountain. She and her ÒBillyÓ traveled extensively and she saw many wonders, but her life was her family and friends. She lived her life with great enthusiasm, grace and dignity. Family members include her children, Judi Ollman and Bonnie Berry, both of Avoca, N.Y., Edwin M. Berry of Largo, Fla., and Ted and Dawn Berry of Claremont. Her extended family includes Cameron Matthews of Jensen Beach, Fla., Brent and Robin Matthews of Bellingham, Wash., Dan and Lauri Matthews of Whitefield, Robin Matthews of Ridgefield, Conn., Chris Matthews of Whitefield, Kenny Matthews of Portsmouth, Chris and Danielle Colby of Los Banos, Calif., Jennifer Colby of Lancaster; one sister, Martha (Sue) Whittum of Whitefield; a sister-in-law, Josephine Ball of Gilman, Vt.; 33 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours; a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Brown, 44, died on Monday, June 21, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, White River Jct., Vt., after a long illness. Ted was born in Sutton, Vt., on December 22, 1959, the son of Neil and Eualie (Russell) Brown. He was raised in Whitefield and was a 1977 graduate of White Mountains Regional High School. For a time he served with the Air Force before returning home to Whitefield. For more than 12 years he was employed at New England Electric Wire Corporation in Lisbon. He eventually took up residency in Landaff. Ted was an avid motorcyclist and was a member of the FlyinÕ Irons in Bethlehem. Family members include a sister Sheila Gilman of Twin Mountain; two brothers, Richard Brown of Sacramento, Calif., and Edward Brown of Claremont; and six nieces and nephews, Morgan Gilman, Lydia Brown, Edward Brown, Sali Tetreault, Sandy Barrett, and Stephanie Brown. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening June 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Park Street Cemetery, Whitefield. Stefanie Herrmann Born in Austria LANCASTER -- Stefanie (Kuren) Herrmann, 97, of Portland Street, Lancaster, died on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Weeks Memorial Hospital, Lancaster after a brief illness. Born on September 23, 1906 in Vienna, Austria, the daughter of John and Mary (Krula) Kuren, she moved to the United States at the age of 11. She lived in Rutherford, N. J. until she moved to Lancaster with her son, Dan, 10 years ago. She also wintered in North Hutchinson Island, Fla. with Dan. Before retiring she was a business owner and hairdresser. StefanieÕs family includes her two sons, Daniel Herrmann of Lancaster and Kurt Herrmann of Wayne, N. J.; and one granddaughter. Her husband Kurt died in 1956. LaRochelle, 89, of Michaud Manor, Derby Line, died on Monday evening, June 14, 2004 at the Country Village Health Care Center in Lancaster, N.H. He was born in Magog, Que., Canada on July 9, 1914, the son of Emile and Odelia (Caya) LaRochelle. Mr. LaRochelle was raised in Canada and, as a young adult, moved to South Lunenburg. with his parents to operate the family farm. He later resided in Gilman for many years and had been a resident of Michaud Manor for seven years. He was a communicant of St. TheresaÕs and St. LeoÕs Catholic churches in Gilman and Lunenburg. He was also a member of the Gilman Senior Citizens. The family includes three nieces, Rachel Kimball of Ellsworth, Me., Genese Blanchette of Morgan, Vt., and Madeleine St. Cyr of Gilman; and several grand nieces and nephews. His two sisters, Gemma Pelletier and Odelia Bosse, died previously. Visiting hours were held on Saturday, June 19 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. Jeannette Maxwell Enjoyed grandchildren, gardening, bingo JEFFERSON -- Jeannette Maxwell, 74, of Old Cherry Mountain Road, Jefferson, passed away at the WeekÕs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster, on Sunday, June 20, 2004 following a short illness. She was born in South Acton, Mass., a daughter of Huburt and Jeannette (Larriviere) Couture. She had been a resident of this area for many years. She most recently had been employed as a housekeeper at the Mt. Washington Hotel, retiring in April of this year. She enjoyed bingo, vegetable gardening, fishing, reading, and her grandchildren. Her family includes a son, Scott Maxwell, West Burke, Vt.; three daughters, Edna Cardinal of Littleton, Cheryl Maker of Whitefield, and Katherine Wallace of Jefferson; three grandchildren; three brothers, Clemence Sigmon of Winston-Salem, N.C., Hubert Couture of Southington, Conn., and Ralph Couture of Westerly, R.I.; and two sisters, Ruth Waid of Dalton, and Edna Fitzgibbons of Pawcatuck, Conn.. David McGee Snowmobiler, Harley owner WHITEFIELD -- David McGee, 44, of Mirror Lake Road, died suddenly on June 19, 2004 at the Littleton Regional Hospital, Littleton. He was born in Whitefield, a son of William and Alice (Nash) McGee. He was a lifelong resident of Whitefield attending local schools and he had two years of education at the Technical Institute. He was a self-employed plumber operating DaveÕs Plumbing and Heating, of Whitefield. He loved stock car racing, riding his Harley, hunting, and riding in the Whitefield Snow Kings Snowmobile club of which he was President. He was also a member of the NRA. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. His family includes his mother, Alice McGee of Whitefield; three brothers, William McGee of Nashua, Jerry McGee of Whitefield, and Paul McGee of Bedford; a sister, Margaret (McGee) Greenwood of Whitefield; and nieces and nephews. Committal Rhoades Ferguson Sawyer LANCASTER -- A graveside committal service for Rhoades Ferguson ÒDustyÓ Sawyer, 79, who died on February 1, 2004, will be held on Saturday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
