Brenda (Ives) Cross Had fondness for Martin Meadow Pond, dancing LANCASTER -- Brenda (Ives) Cross, 65, of Lancaster died on August 10, 2004. Born in Bedford, England, she met and married Lancaster native, William Cross, on Dec. 12, 1959. She immigrated to the United States with her new husband where they had their first child, Sheila. Landing back in Lancaster, the Cross family traveled from the East Coast ending up in Coachella, Calif. Along the way two more children, Scott and Shelly, were born. After retirement Bill and Brenda moved back to Lancaster settling in their current residence on Martin Meadow Pond. Brenda's parents, Harry and Ethel Ives and her son, Scott, died previously. Family members include her husband, William Cross; daughters, Sheila Arita of Lancaster and Shelly Crowell of Guildhall, Vt.; grandchildren, Brandon Arita, Brittany Arita, both of Lancaster and Toni Crowell of Guildhall, Vt; a sister, Sheila Steel and a brother, Brian Ives, both of Bedford, England. Brenda will forever be remembered gazing out over Martin Meadow Pond watching over her then young grandchildren, swimming and splashing, and now as teenagers, driving themselves to the lake, and also watching the new loons making their first flight. She will be remembered for elaborate dinner parties at their lakefront home, at which everyone was welcomed with open arms. Brenda also loved to dance. At Brenda's request there will be no visiting hours. A private memorial will be held at their home on Martin Meadow Pond. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Dorothy E. Dyer Gourmet cook, enjoyed outdoors RANDOLPH -- Dorothy E. Dyer, 95, died on Sunday morning, August 15, 2004, at Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield. Dorothy was born in New York City, N. Y., on October 12, 1908, the daughter of John Frederick and Katherine Vincent (Kelley) Libenthal. She was raised and educated in New Jersey, where she worked as a clerk at the Burroughs Corporation until moving to Jefferson in 1969 and then to Randolph in 1984. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Jefferson and the Holy Family Church in Gorham. She loved camping, fishing, and reading and also enjoyed gourmet cooking. The family includes two granddaughters, Kristeen Baker of Medford, Ore. and Kathleen Syla of Lake Worth, Fla.; a close friend, Jeannette Corrigan of Randolph; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Edward Dyer and a son, Richard Dyer died previously. At Dorothy's request there will not be any visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Durand Road Cemetery in Randolph. Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's name to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster Cora White Woman of courage, kindness, faith BETHLEHEM -- Cora White, 96, of Bethlehem and for the past year, a resident of Morrison Nursing Home, Whitefield, died at Littleton Regional Hospital, on August 9, 2004 following a short illness. She was born in Asbestos, Canada, July 18, 1908, a daughter of George and Amanda (Houle) Moran. Cora spent most of her life in Littleton. She worked for Norton Pike Company, retiring in 1971. Cora's first husband, Edmund Rioux; second husband, Karl White; and a son, Arthur Rioux of Seminole, Fla., died previously. She had lived in Seminole for 20 years following her retirement. She then returned to the North Country for the past two years. She was a former member of the Catholic Women's Club, and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved fishing, walking the beach in Florida, and taking long road trips with her family. Cora was known for her kindness, her courage, her vision beyond her challenges, her faith and her spunk. Family members include a daughter, Anna and her husband Roland Bronson, of Bethlehem; two sons, Everett Rioux of Biloxi, Miss. and Joseph Vigil, of Seminole, Fla.; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lena Smith, North Bend, Ore. A service for friends and family was held at the Bronson residence, 6 Lehan Road, Bethlehem, on Sunday at 6 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Matthews Cemetery, Whitefield.
