Crapeau WWII veteran, organist LITTLETON -- George B. Crapeau, 78, of River Glen Complex, died on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Littleton Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born on Dec. 23, 1925 in Whitefield, he was the son of Joseph E. and Mary A. (Boissonneault) Crapeau. Mr. Crapeau was graduated from Whitefield High School in 1943. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II as a communications specialist. He worked for Western Union Telegraph in Baltimore, Md. for more than 30 years. Playing the organ was a passion of his; he built his first organ from a kit. He played for various denominations in Baltimore and was a member of the choir and played the organ for St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Whitefield for many years. He also enjoyed gardening. Mr. Crapeau was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Rifle Association and a past member of the American Legion. The family includes two sisters, Theresa Caggiula of Colebrook and Claire Brady of Goffstown. Calling hours were held on Tuesday at Pillsbury Funeral Home in Littleton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22 (today) at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Fleming celebrant. For more information, go to www.pillsburyfh Clement Foss Devoted to family CINNAMINSON, N.J. -- Clement Alfred "Al" Foss, son of Beverly and Clement Foss, formerly of Lancaster, died on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 in his sleep, at his home in Cinnaminson. Al succumbed to complications from his battle with heart disease. He was 52 years old and was born in Manchester on Jan. 25, 1952. Al was a friendly person who loved people. He was dedicated to his family and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Family members include his mother, Beverly Foss; two brothers, Stephen and Robert; three sisters, Mary Herrera and Tammie Sitton, both of California, and Judy Dreyer of Lancaster. Al also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews, who lovingly refer to him as "Uncle Frosty." He got that nickname because of an encounter with frostbite a number of years ago. His father, Clement and his brother, Christopher, died previously. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Bakersfield, Calif. Tony Hebert Town constable, tax collector BLOOMFIELD, Vt. -- Tony Hebert, 92, died on Sept. 13, 2004, in Bloomfield. He was born on Feb. 9, 1912, in St. Edwidge, Quebec, the son of Jean Baptiste and Aglee (Martineau) Hebert. Mr. Hebert moved to the United States and settled in Bloomfield in February of 1947. He was self-employed in the trucking business, and had worked at the plywood plant in North Stratford, among other jobs. He was a steward at the Stratford VFW Post, operated the Bloomfield Hotel bar and restaurant and worked for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation for 21 years. He served Bloomfield for 20 years as town constable and tax collector. He retired at the age of 80. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler. He enjoyed cutting firewood and logs and continued cutting until he was 92. The family includes two daughters, Angela (Hebert) St. Cyr of Berlin and Monique Hebert Washburn of Colebrook; a son, Claude J. Hebert of Grand Haven, Mich.; five grandsons; a granddaughter; three great-grandsons; and seven great-granddaughters. His wife, Lucienne (Tremblay) Hebert died previously; a son, Yvon A. Hebert died in Vietnam. Friends were invited to call Thursday morning at Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday afternoon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in North Stratford, with the Rev. Daniel Deveau as celebrant. Lakin STEWARTSTOWN -- Joyce Marie (Hodson) Lakin, 78, of West Stewartstown, died on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. She was born on Feb. 26, 1926 in Turon, Ks., a daughter of Harry and Bertha (Kelley) Hodson. Mrs. Lakin was a waitress at Howard's Restaurant and worked at North Stratford plywood mill. She also made popcorn at the movie theater in Colebrook before its closing. She had worked as a cashier at both LaPerle's IGA and Solomon's Store, while assisting various families as a nanny. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, making crafts, traveling and collecting items such as stamps, coins and miniature elephants. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. The family includes three daughters, Diana Corliss and Sandra Hall, both of Colebrook and Valerie Hartlen of Merrimack; five sons, Donald "Jack" Haynes of Seattle, Wash., David "Jim" Haynes of Manchester, Rex Haynes of Merrimack, Wendell "Walt" Lakin of Milford and Randy Lakin of Canaan, Vt.; three brothers, Milburn Hodson of Kingman, Ks., Wayne Hodson of Golden, Colo. and Dean Hodson of Madison Lodge, Ks.; two sisters, Shirley Jeannette Winter of Kingman, Ks. and Doris Maze of Thurmont, Md.; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her first husband, Donald E. Haynes, her second husband, Wendell Ward Lakin, a daughter, Donna Joy Riendeau, and a son, Curtis Russell Haynes died previously. O'Leary WWII veteran LANCASTER -- Edward M. O'Leary, 84, of Portland Street, died on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster after a lengthy illness. Born in Somerville, Mass. on June 18, 1920, he was the son of John and Elizabeth (Maher) O'Leary. Raised in Somerville, he was graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1939. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. On Jan. 3, 1955 he married Harriet Green. They lived in Somerville, where he was a produce manager at First National Warehouse for 30 years. After his retirement, they lived for a time in Pembroke, Mass., and moved to Lancaster in 1986. The family includes his wife, Harriet O'Leary of Lancaster; two brothers, Thomas O'Leary of North Carolina and William O'Leary of Peabody, Mass.; three sisters, Josephine Stout of Hudson, Agnes Stier of Roslindale, Mass., and Theresa Fehlane of Lexington, Mass. and Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Colleen Spordone Raised in Gilman ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Colleen (Quigley) Spordone died on Monday, August 23, 2004, in Royal Palm Beach, following a long illness. She was the daughter of Miles Quigley Sr. and Annie (Rooney) Quigley of Gilman, Vt. Born on Feb. 1, 1933 in Littleton, N.H., Colleen was raised in Gilman and later was graduated from Littleton High School. Her secondary education led to a career in radiology, which she practiced in Boston, Mass. for many years. She resided in Maine, Connecticut and New Jersey before settling with her family in West Palm Beach in 1977. She worked for the Electrician's Federal Credit Union in West Palm Beach for over 20 years. Family members include two children, Thom McBride and Loreen Nolte, both of Florida; six grandchildren, Amanda, Bailey, Colin, Camden, Kirstyn and Brittany; two sisters, Lorraine Marshall of Lancaster, N.H. and Betty Quigley of Gilman; and many nieces and nephews. Colleen's two husbands died previously, Richard McBride in 1979 and Frank Spordone in 2000. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in West Palm Bach. Due to recent hurricanes in Florida, final committal services have not been completed. Elizabeth L. vonDohrmann Registered nurse PITTSBURG -- Elizabeth L. vonDohrmann, 54, died on Sept. 19, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. She was born on July 7, 1950 in Huntington, N.Y., a daughter of Frederic and Kathleen (Byrne) Taeger. Mrs. VonDohrmann was a 1968 graduate of Walt Whitman High School. She earned a nursing degree in 1973 from SUNY-Plattsburgh. She married Albert vonDohrmann on July 9, 1972, and lived in England for three years while her husband served in the Air Force. She returned to Pittsburg in 1977. Mrs. VonDohrmann was a registered nurse for 26 years, first at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital and later in schools in Pittsburg and Stewartstown. Her last position was director of nursing at Cošs County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown. In 2001 she was recognized as New Hampshire Nursing Home Employee of the Year. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. The family includes her husband, Albert; four daughters, Katherine vonDohrmann of Pittsburg, Elizabeth vonDohrmann of Skowhegan, Me., Mrs. Eugene (Christine) Cote of Canaan, Vt., and Mrs. Jesse (Jennifer) Jacobs of Mt. Vernon, Me.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Frederick Taeger of Wellington, Fla. and John Taeger of Tempe, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Bauer of Holtsville, N.Y. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Newman Funeral Home, 136 Main St., Colebrook. The funeral will be on Monday at 11 a.m. in Assumption Church, Canaan, Vt.
