JANICE DAVIS Janice W. Davis, 75, of Colebrook, died suddenly early on Friday morning, December 31, 2004, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital. Mrs. Davis was born at the Pioneer Farm in Columbia on April 4, 1929, daughter of the late Lew and Gladys (Clark) Wallace. She was graduated from Colebrook Academy, Class of 1947, and received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Nasson College. She was married to Perley E. Davis on October 21, 1951, and loved caring for her family as a homemaker. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed making Christmas wreaths and flower arrangements for family and friends. She also enjoyed bird watching, especially bluebirds. Mrs. Davis was Past Worthy Matron of Eureka Chapter #2 O.E.S. of Colebrook, and Past Grand Organist of the Grand Chapter of New Hampshire O.E.S. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was especially proud of her four granddaughters. Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband of 53 years, Perley E. Davis of Colebrook; a daughter, Julie Colby and her husband David of Colebrook; a son, Tim Davis and his partner, Tony, of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Beth Young of Columbia and Sis Dugas of Barnstable, Mass.; four granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by a son, Peter Davis in 1959, a brother, Lew Wallace Jr., and a sister, Ione Young. Calling hours were held on Sunday evening, January 2 at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook. An Eastern Star Service followed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Eureka Chapter #2 O.E.S. of Colebrook. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Colebrook Village Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line by going to www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net. JEAN HARVEY Jean "John" Harvey, 45, died at his residence in Bradford, Vt., on Friday, December 24, 2004. Mr. Harvey was born on November 21, 1959 in Newport, Vt., the son of Paul and Jean (De la Bruere) Harvey. He attended school in Canaan and was a graduate of Canaan Memorial High School. Mr. Harvey spent his entire life working in the woods and was a self-employed logger at the time of his death. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and fishing. Mr. Harvey is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Jeanne Harvey of Canaan; a brother, Guy V. Harvey of Manchester; four sisters, Carole Marquis of Laconia, Michelle Roy and Francine LeClerc, both of Manchester, and Danielle LaFlamme of Stewartstown; and many aunts and uncles, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held on Thursday, December 30 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday morning, December 31, at the Church of the Assumption in Canaan, officiated by the Reverend Craig Cheney. Burial followed at St. Anne's cemetery in Coaticook, Quebec. DAVID PATRICK David K. Patrick, 75, of Canaan, died on Monday, January 3, 2005 at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. There will be no services; Newman Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. A full obituary will appear in next week's paper. ALYNE ROYAL Alyne V. Royal, 78, of Pittsburg, died on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. She was born on June 16, 1926 in Mio, Maine, the daughter of Edward and Mary Rita (Groves) Sylvester. Ms. Royal attended high school in Newport, R.I., graduating in 1944. She enlisted in the Air Force in 1948 and served until 1951, after which she moved to Henniker, where she owned and operated a restaurant. Ms. Royal also worked as a meat cutter in Bradford and Sunapee. In 1975 she moved to Pittsburg, where she was self-employed making custom made fishing rods. Due to health problems she had been retired for the past several years. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting and life on the lake, but her true love was for children, especially time spent with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Alyne V. Royal is survived by four sons, Walter C. Royal of Bradford, N.H., John E. Royal of Henniker, Thomas C. Royal of Boca Raton, Fla., and Mathew J. Royal of Pittsburg; two daughters, Maryel Hodgman of Warner and Kathryn M. Davis of Pittsburg; and by 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Edward Sylvester, and by a sister, Kathryn Harrington. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ms. Royal's residence, 93 Stewart Young Road in Pittsburg. Graveside services will be held at New Pond Cemetery in Bradford, N.H., in the spring. Newman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
