TITLE: Deed Elijah & Elizabeth Hall to James Laighton SOURCE: Strafford County Registry of Deeds, Book 5, Pag 53-54 TRANSCRIBED: CParziale, Mar 2001 ***************************************************************************** Know all Men by these presents that we Elijah Hall of Portsmouth in the County of Rockingham and state of New Hampshire Mariner and Elizabeth his wife in her right For in Consideration of the sum of four hundred and five pounds lawful money of said state to us in hand before the Delivery hereof well and truly paid by James Laighton of Durham in the County of Strafford and State aforesaid Tailor The receipt whereof We do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained sold & by thefes presents do give grant bargain sell alien enfeoff convey & confirm unto the said James Laighton his Heirs & afsigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of Land Situate in said Durham containing Eighty Acres more or lefs bounded as follows Viz Beginning at the Northeasterly corner of said land of Abednego Leathers, Joseph Chesley the Widow Chesley & Daniel Rogers to land belonging to the heirs of Mofes Davis deceased then running Southerly by land of said Heirs to land of said Daniel Rogers then running Easterly by land of said Rogers & land of Joseph Stevens to land in pofsefsion of Jeremiah Burnam then Northerly by land of said Burnam & land of George Chesley to the bounds first Mentioned together with all the buildings on the same premifes being the same land & buildings which Frances Mathes sold James Stoodly Esq. by deed dated Seventeen March one thousand and seven hundred seventy five. To Have and To Hold the said granted premifes with all the privileges & Appurtenances to the Same ~~ appertaining to him the Said James Laighton his Heirs & afsigns to his & them only Proper sole benefit forever and We the said Elijah & Elizabeth for us our heirs Executors and administrators do hereby convenant grant & Agree to & with the said James Laighton his Heirs & Afsigns that until the Delivery hereof we in the Right aforesaid are the lawful owners of the said premifes & are Lawfully seized & profsefsed thereof in said right in fee simple & have full power & Lawfull authority to grant & convey the same in Manner aforesd.
