Landmarks in Ancient Dover, New Hampshire by Mary P. Thompson, Durham, N.H. ©1892, Printed by the Republican Press Association, Concord, N.H. - Submitted by C. Parziale LANDMARKS: Chesley's Hill NAMES: NONE ASSOCIATED Chesley's Hill. This hill is mentioned in the Durham records. It is at the west end of Durham village near the railroad station. It derived its name from the old Chesley residence at the top, where lived five or six generations of this name. The Chesley lands adjoining, originally a part of Valentine Hill's Five-Hundred Acre grant, extended south as far as Chesley's mill on Oyster river. The house and grounds, now enclosed between the old Mast road and the turnpike road, have recently been acquired by the Agricultural College. There is another Chesley's Hill at Lubberland.
