LANDMARKS: Holmes’ Bridge NAMES: CLOUTMAN, Edward; WAYMOUTH, Benjamin; ROBERTS, Joseph; RANDLE (RANDALL), Samuel; ROLLINS, Jeremy; NOCK, Thomas; Holmes’ Bridge. Mentioned June 23, 1701, when Edward Cloutman had a grant of 30 acres "between Cochecha and Nechewanick, as near Holmes his bridge as may be." That same day 30 acres were granted to Benjn Waymouth, joining Edward Cloutman’s land "near Holmes bridg." Joseph Roberts conveyed to Samuel Randle, Feb. 27, 1726-7, 30 acres on the south side of the Salmon falls road (from Cochecho) "near Home’s bridge," thence running S.S.E. to a hemlock in Jeremy Rollins’ fence, then E. to an elm in a hollow near Thomas Nock’s. This bridge seem to have been across the Twombley brook in Rolllinsford, but the name is no longer in use. (See Otis’ Bridge.) Pg 106 - Submitted by C.
