Landmarks in Ancient Dover, New Hampshire by Mary P. Thompson, Durham, N.H. ©1892, Printed by the Republican Press Association, Concord, N.H. LANDMARKS: Kincaid’s Brook NAMES: RANDALL, Simon; LEATHERS, Thomas; DEMERITT, S.E.; Kincaid’s Brook. This brook is mentioned several times in the Durham records previous to the incorporation of the township of Lee. In 1765 the town paid Simon Randall 1£ 6s., 3d., for timber furnished Thomas Leathers for "the bridge over Kincaid’s Brook." This appears to be the trout brook that rises among the marshes in Newtown, crosses the turnpike road above Mr. S.E. Demeritt’s and finally empties into Oyster river. It is now generally called Demeritt’s brook. PG 117 - Submitted by C.
