Part I - General View- History

1717 - A dispute happened between the governor and his council as to the best mode of 
defence against the French and Indians.
	The greatest snow ever known in New England fell in the latter part of April of 
this year.  It was so deep, that people were obliged to walk from their chamber windows.  
It was said to be eight feet on a level, and has ever since been called the great snow.
