1766 - The obnoxious act was repealed on the 19th of March of this year, but such was 
the infatuation of the parliament, and the chagrin of the authors of the act, that they 
framed another, imposing heavier duties on trade, under the specious pretense of raising a 
revenue for the support of the provincial governments.
