From The Gazetteer of the State of New Hampshire (in three parts), compiled from the best authorities, by Eliphalet Merrill and the Late Phinehas Merrill, Esq., Printed by C. Norris & Co. , Exeter, NH, ©1817, pg 64 Part I - General View- History 1770 - Authentic information was received, that the revenue act was so far repealed, as to take off all the obnoxious duties except that of three pence per pound on tea. This gave no satisfaction to the colonies; they considered the principle of that small tax as dangerous as that of a larger one. On the 5th of March the work of bloodshed commenced. The king’s soldiers stationed in Boston fired upon the inhabitants, killed three and wounded five more. Submitted by T.C.
