TITLE: Divorces Granted, Strafford 1930 (New Hampshire) SOURCE: Excerpts of the Rochester Courier Newspaper, October 31, 1930, page 1 SUBMITTED: Transcribed by Theresa Annis October 12, 2000 ***************************************************************************** The divorce list at the September term of the superior court for Strafford county, which has just ended its session, includes twenty-three divorces, one annulment and one legal separation. One of the divorce decrees has not yet been made public, Judge John Scammon filed the list of decrees on Monday. In the geographical distribution Rochester leads with sixteen couples separated, while five are from Dover, two from Farmington and one from Madbury. The marriage annulment case was that of a Rochester couple, Franklin (Frank) H. Fernald vs. Exzena Fernald, otherwise known as Exzena Garyait, who are own cousins’. their marriage by the Rev. E.W. Churchill of the Rochester Baptist church in march 1925, was decreed void. Lydia Dubois of Rochester was granted legal separation from Joseph Dubois of parts unknown, the custody of their four children, and alimony in the sum of $300 on deposit in a Rochester bank in the husband’s name and $7 a week for the support of the minor children. The divorce decrees were as follows; Bertha E. Richardson from Fred L. Richardson, both of Rochester; Elva P. Remick of Farmington from Clayton S. Remick of Berwick, Me., the libellant’s name changed to Elva P. Holland: Galen W. Nightingale of Dover from Viola Nightingale of parts unknown; Earl A. Jenness of Rochester from Clara V. Jenness of Beverly, Mass; Lewis M. Hartford of Rochester from Rubie L. Hartford of Lynn, Mass.: Nellie F. Pineo of Rochester from Clarence B. Pineo of Dover; Althea Irene Connolly of Rochester from Neal Joseph Connolly of Worcester, Mass., the libellant to resume her maiden name of Dame; Georgie E. Dame of Dover from Charles L. Dame of Farmington; Mary G. Sears from Barney F. Sears, both of Dover: Alice Rose Duclos of Rochester from Amedee Duclos of Nashua; Florence A. Boulanger from Philip Boulanger both of Dover, the libellant to resume her maiden name, Court. Alice R. Geary of Farmington from Anthony W. Geary of Alton; Charles F. Matthews from Marion E. Matthews, both of Rochester; Archie Cayer of Madbury from Delaire Cayer otherwise known as Dora Cayer, of Brockton, Mass; Mary B. Finnen of Dover from Timothy F. Finnen of parts unknown. (This couple was married at Fort Worth, Tex.); Georgianna Sanborn from Joseph Sanborn both of Rochester; Mabel C. Colby from John S. Colby, both of Rochester; Lucille Neal Almgren of Rochester from A. Malcolm Almgren of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; Albert A. Amero from Percy H. Amero, both of Rochester, a temporary injunction granted at the February term restraining the libellee from entering the family home or interfering with their personal liberty made permanent, $12 a week to be paid the libellant by him for the support of herself and four minor children; Abbie S. Smith from Alwood F. Smith, both of Rochester; Sylvanus F.R. Gage from Luella J. Gage, both of Rochester.
