COLE, PROMINENT EAST ROCHESTER RESIDENT 50 YEARS Funeral services were held for Wilbur Cole of summer street at his late home last Sunday afternoon. The home was filled with sorrowing friends and relatives. Services were conducted by Rev. Roger Thompson the pastor of his church, and there was singing by Mrs. Annie Shaw and Mrs. Elizabeth Jacobs. The large floral tribute testified to the high esteem in which Mr. Cole was held by all, J. Hervey Edgerly had charge of the funeral arrangements and interment was in the family lot in Cold Spring cemetery. The bearers were Irving C. Faunce, Charles Clark, Harry G. Bickford and George Jacobs. Mr. Cole was born in Portsmouth 78 years ago and came to this place about 50 years ago, where he was married and raised his family. He was much interested in politics and was greatly missed at the ward house this week. He was always a staunch Republican. In his younger days he was in many dramas put on by local talent. He will be much missed in the town as well as the family circle. He was the son of James and Lydia Varney Cole and leaves a sister, Mrs. Emma Wakefield of Bar Mills, Me., as well as the aforementioned wife and four children, Clarence, Frank, Charles and Eva Dickey, all of this place, and six grandchildren. He was employed in the Cocheco Woolen Mills and worked there until the last week of his life.
