Jeremiah W. Hall, a well known and much respected citizen and war veteran died very suddenly at his home at No 7 Glenwood Ave. Thursday noon. Mr. Hall had been as well as usual for the past few weeks and was about the house during the forenoon. He had complained of not being well but refused to have a doctor. At noon he stepped into his room and passed away. Medical Refer(?) Kray was notified and viewed the remains and decided that no inquest was needed. He thought the cause of death was heart failure. The remains were turned over to Undertaker R.M. Edgerly. The announcement of the death was a surprise to all as only a short time ago Mr. Hall was seen on the streets. Mr. Hall was a man who was a good father, neighbor and citizen. He was a war veteran with a good record. He enlisted from Barrington, July 29th, 1861 in the 3d New Hampshire and was mustered at Concord, August 24, 1861 as a private. He received an honorable discharge July 20th 1865. Mr. Hall was badly wounded while unloading stores at Morres Island, S.C., July 12, 1863 and for a number of months was confined to the hospital and from his injuries he has always suffered. Mr. Hall was a good soldier and never was found wanting. He took part in several battles among them were the battles at Secessionville, Morres Island, Fort Wagner, Hamilton Road and several others. He was a man who was proud of the record he made. Mr. Hall was a member of the Sampson Post No.22(?) (?) (?)of this city and in the past he always took a large amount of interest. Mr. Hall was born in Barrington where he received his education and spent his early days. He was the son of John and Nancy Hall. His age was 79 years and 5 days. He leaves 3 daughters, Mrs. Gracie M. Lucas of this city with whom Mr. Hall lived. Mrs. Abbie M. Abbott of Haverhill, Mass., and Mrs. Sarah Linsard of Barrington, one sister Mrs. John C. Willy of this city.
