J. L. Merrill, Town of Acworth, 1869, page 182 CHRISTOPHER AYRES was one of the earliest settlers in the south part of the town. His mother, a native of Ireland, married and settled in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Losing her husband and five children, she came with her only surviving and youngest son, Christopher, to Acworth through the pathless woods in 1776.
