JOHN MCMURPHY was the grandson of John McMurphy, who came from Londonderry, Ireland to 
Londonderry, New Hampshire in 1719, and became one of the leading men of the colony.
John born 1756, in Londonderry, settled in Acworth 1784 - died 1814 - married Sarah Grimes of
Chester - children,
I. William - married Lucy Shumway of Charleston, removed to Alstead - died 1839.
II. Alexander - married ____ ____ of Alstead - died 1865 in Alstead.
III. John - married Kezia Garfield of Langdon - died 1858, in Alstead
IV. Betsey - married Jesse Williams - removed to New York - children,
	1. Philinda
	2. Sally
	3. ______
	4. George
V. Sarah - died young.
VI. David - married Mary Goss of Dummerston, removed to Boston.
VII. George - married Polly Maynard - removed to Claremont.
VIII. Polly - married Wailes Jewett of Langdon.
