SAMUEL SMITH came to Acworth from Ashford, Connecticut in 1769 - married Mehitable Wadkins, 
sister of Mrs. Ephraim Keyes - children,
I. Samuel - taught the first school in town. He lived in Acworth only a few years - removed to
  Lyme about 1773, where he married first Sarah Grant and moved to Fairlee, where he was 
  elected town clerk in 1780 and was yearly re-elected to that office until 1820 - children,

     4. Lucy - married Alvan Hammond, was present at the Centennial, from Fairlee, Vermont - 
         being 89 years of age - children,
