BARNABAS1 DELANO is supposed to have res. in W. where he served on an instructing committee, Dec. 12, 1776; in 1790 he was living in Al. then came to L. about 1792 locating on 100 acre lot 8, r. 8, then settled on let 1 in W. section of the town. He served as moderator, 1796; was a non-res. in 1809, then on Feb. 8, 1810 sold his property here at which time he was living at Williamstown, Vt. He m. Ruth Ladd. Ch. b., records incomplete: i. Tarze2, b. ---- 1792?; d. L. Dec. 29, 1795; 3y; int. L.V.C. ii. Samuel2, b. L. May 20, 1794; d. Williamstown, Vt. May 24, 1877. He was grad. from Dartmouth College, with his A. M., 1828; studied for the ministry with Rev. Bennet Tyler, D. D., Hanover; ordained (Congregationalist) pastor at Hartland, Vt., Mar. 19, 1828; dismissed Jan. 13, 1839; labored at Haverhill, N. H., Deb. 16, '42-Jan. 13, '47; North Haverhill, 1847-'52; Hartland, Vt., 1852-6; Strafford, and Williamstown, 1869-77; trustee, Dartmouth Coll. 1834-66' Secy. Vermont Domestic Missionary Society, 1839-42. He m. Jan. 7, 1827, Nancy Augusta Murdock, of Norwich, Vt., who d. at Wills'tn, Dec. 26, 1876; dau. of Col. Constant and Lucy (Riley) Murdock; n.f.r. of family.
