The funeral was held at the residence on Tuesday the 26th, and largely attended by friends and neighbors, including many of the existing pioneers, who have known him so long and so well. His remains were laid loveingly to rest with the unction of sympathetic tears, in Maple Grove cemetery, near Kasson. He leavs [leaves] an aged wife, who has been his constant companion, since October 1836. This union was blessed with three children, to wit: Watson A., Adeline, (Mrs. Fisk, of Omro, Wis.) and Daniel M. [McClure], all of whom were present on the solemn occasion. Mr. Houston was born and reared to manhood at Ackworth, N.H. [Acworth, NH]. After his marriage to Miss Betsy Park [PARKS, who was a half-sister to Elisha Adams Parks of Blue Earth County, MN] he settled in Starkboro, [Starksborough] Vt., and engaged in lumbering. In 1853 he removed to Fond du Lac county, Wis., and from thence, in 1861 to Blue Earth county, in this state. On the outbreak of the Indian massacre, in August, 1862, he was obliged to flee for safety, and removed with his family to the place on which he passed his remaining days. Here the aged couple dwelt in peace and contentment, in a pleasant home, cared for by their eldest son, with true fillial affection. [Information in brackets added by the transcriber, William W.
