Will of Edmund CORDEARY (1785), Atlantic/Gloucester County, MD Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Ray Steelman http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************************** " WILL OF EDMUND CORDEARY " In the name of God, Amen I EDMUND CORDEARY of the Township of Galloway, County of Gloucester and State of New Jersey, being in perfect health, sound mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testatmant in manner and form as follows viz: After my decease my will and pleasure is, that my funeral expenses and debts be first discharged out of my personal Estate, then I give and bequeath the remainder of my real and personal Estate that I now own or may hereafter own at my decease Viz: I give and bequeath to my four sons: SILVENUS CORDEARY, CLEMENT CORDEARY, DANIEL CORDEARY and VINCENT CORDEARY, the whole and every part of my lands, to be equally divided amongst them, in equal quantity and as can possibly be done, and in case of the death of any of any of my said sons dying without any lawfull Issue, then that part herein bequeathed him, shall go to and be equally divided between my then surviving sons, and in case any of my sons be desirous of disposing of his land given him I request that he may give a preverence to any one or more of his brothers to purchase the same at a reasonanle rate, the respective division of my Whomestead. I desire my be portioned out as follows,viz: SILVENUS CORDEARY to have the house and other Buildings in which I now live with his proportions of land that is adjoining said house and Improvements: My Son CLEM CORDEARY to have his proportions of Land as may be most convenient to his house he is now building; my son DANIEL CORDEARY to have his Land on the South west part of Silvenus, my son Vincent to have his land between EDWARD DOUGHTY line and Daniel's land and further in laying out said lands it is my will, that each and every of my sons shall have a free Road lain out to the creek where it now is; my will further is that my personal estate, be divided as follow viz; my ox wagon and a pare of oxen, I give to my sons SILVENUS and CLEMENTINE CORDEARY. My Daughter ANN CORDEARY I give one Feather bed and all reasonable bedding to the same with one Mahogany desk and further my pleasure is that my dearly beloved wife CHRISTIAN CORDEARY shall have and enjoy during her natural life, one third part of my real Estate, but if at any time after my decease she chooses to resign her thirds into the hand of my sons my will then is, that they shall in consideration thereof, give her good and sufficient assurances, that they will during her natural life give and allow her a good and sufficient maintenance that is reasonable and necessary and further that the remainder and residue of my personal Estate, not already given is to be equally divided between my three daughters,viz. DEBRO RISLEY, ELIZABETH IRELAND and ANN CORDEARY, and lastly I hearby appoint my two sons, SILVENUS CORDEARY and DANIEL CORDEARY my Executors to this my last Will and Testament.
