Will of Japhet IRELAND Sr. (1810), Atlantic/Gloucester County, MD Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Ray Steelman http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************************** " WILL OF JAPHET IRELAND " (SENIOR) In the name of God Amen- I JAPHET IRELAND of the Township of Waymouth in the County of Gloucester being weak of Body but of perfect Sound mind and memory blessed be god therefore, I calling to mind the Immortallity of my body, knowing there is a time for man to die: I Command my Soul into the hands of Almighty god that gave it, and my body to the dust,from whence it came, to be burried in a Christian like desent manner: and beleiving my time in this life is to be but for a Short duration in this world at longest, I have hereby Settled my worldly Estate in this life in manner and form herein after mentioned Viz- after all my just debts and funeral Charges are paid I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter HANNAH IRELAND three Cows and two yearlings Called Said HANNAH IRELANDs Cattle and also my best bead and beding and furniture there unto belonging and also one Chest Called her mothers and I also Give to my said Daughter my mohogany Dining table and mohogany breakfast table my largest looking glass and twenty five Dollars in money all which property afforesaid I give and bequeath to my Said Daughter Hanna exclusive her Lawful Share in the residue of my Estate both real and personal. (2) I give and bequeath to my Daughter NAOMY IRELAND my Second best bead and furniture and two Cows and Calfs her heirs and assigns forever. (3) My will is that all the residue of my Estate Both real personal Shall be appraised as the law directs and when sold the money their from Arrising to be Equally divided in Manner and form following. Viz- that all my Sons- JAPHET IRELAND, ELIJAH IRELAND, THOMAS IRELAND, TOWNSEND IRELAND and RICHARD IRELAND, so that each and every of them shall have two Equal Shares Each, all my daughters Viz- PHEBE SHAW, MARY ANN STEWARD, RACHEL MAY, HANNAH IRELAND and NAOMY IRELAND to hold one share each as the law directs to be injoy d by each and every of them their heirs and Assigns forever and I give and bequeath to my Son THOMAS IRELAND one pair of four year old Stears and any of said Children Should die without Essue my will is that legese Shall be Equally Divided between the surviving Legatees and for the true performance of this my last will and testament I constitute and appoint my beloved son JAPHET IRELAND and my son in law JOHN STEWARD my lawful Executors to perform this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this Seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and ten, before the Sealing of these my last will I give and bequeath to my son RICHARD IRELAND one pair of Stears three years old.
