This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: George Van Riper ==================================================================== Burial Ground on Moonachie Road, Little Ferry, Bergen County, New Jersey These tombstone records were copied from stones in an old abandoned Burial Ground on Moonochi Road (Liberty St) in Little Ferry, Bergen County N.J.. by Louise Burnett*and Ruth Parry** on February 13, 1970. The stones are broken, many have fallen, and probably many more are buried just beneath the surface of the earth. It was impossible to probe for them as the ground was frozen. - 1- Samuel Dickerson born Sept 26, 18(28?); d June 10. 1894 2- Eliza Jackson, born 1843; died 1889 (these two stones together, are 3- Edward Jackson, b 1836; d 1909 probably husband and wife) 4- Thomas Jefferson, died March 27. 1901 aged 67 yrs. 5- Henry White, died May 23. 1911. On the back of this stone are the following names: George, Leah Anna, Amos, Clarence, Willett. 6- Nohan Reed, died July 29, 1902 aged 17 years. "May He Sleep In Jesus In Heaven 7- Richard R. Mattison, died Nov 27, 1892 aged 29 yrs 10 mos 29 days. 8- Cora, 1879-1894 9- Susan A. Jackson, 1841-1906 10- Elizabeth Dulfer aged 90 yrs. died Feb 12, .... (stone broken and gone) 11- Cornelia J. Smith, died Aug 15, 1866 aged 1 yr 11 mo 6 ds. 12- Susan Robinson, died Aug 14, 1881 aged 80 yrs 11 mos 17 ds. 13- Jane Geffer died June 6, 18?? aged 42 yrs. "Affliction sore long time sin(ce) bore Physicians tried in vain till God was pleased to call her home and ease her from her pain." 14- Joseph Van Riper ( no dates visable) 15- William Robinson. died Aug 23, 1891 (?) nearly obliterated, a recently placed flag on this grave indicates that this man was a veteran of some war. A sentence on the stone nearly obliterated may read "U.S. Private" It was rumored that this was an old slave burial ground, but no proof of this has been offered by anyone to this date. * Mrs. John Burnett Sr.,-Librarian of the Bergen County Historical Society. ** Mrs. Richard Parry, Secretary of the Bergen County Historical Society.
