Zappala, 59, taught in Fair Lawn ROCHELLE PARK -- Leo J. Zappala, 59, died yesterday in his home. Mr. Zappala was born in New York. He lived in Bogota and Hackensack before moving to Rochelle Park 18 years ago. He was a language teacher at Fair Lawn High School before retiring. Mr. Zappala was a member of the Bogota VFW and the New Jersey Retired Teachers' Education Association. He also worked as a real estate broker. Surviving are his wife, Florence; a daughter, Jeannine of Rochelle Park; a son, Thomas Lionetti of Port Arthur, Tex., and a sister, Ada of Bogota. Mass will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the Sacred Heart R.C. Church, with burial in Hackensack Cemetery. Friends may call today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Vander Plaat Memorial Home, S-113 Farview Ave., Paramus.
