Elijah and Prudence Horner to Barzillai Horner both of the twp of Upper Freehold in Monmouth Co., NJ. Land originally purchased in 1738 by John and Samuel Emley. Samuel Emley sold 203 acres to Benjamin Horner 19 May 1739, recorded Burlington Liber K, folio 333 (Bk K p 333). Benjamin died intestate and land went to his son Benjamin Horner who also died intestate and land went to Elijah as Benjamin's heir. Elijah sold 37 acres one rod and two perches south of Beaver Dam Brook, neighbors Samuel Potter and Robert Webb. Land about one mile east of the old Province line run by George Keith 10 Oct 1774. Witnesses John Antram and Henry Moore. Elijah and Prudence both signed with their “O” mark instead of an X. Additional Comments: Note: this deed proves Elijah Horner's father was named Benjamin as was his grandfather and that they both died without leaving a will. Since Benjamin Sr purchased 230 acres and Elijah is selling 37 acres there were probably other heirs who could be found by checking the Burlington and Monmouth deed books. Elijah moved to Butler Co., OH by 1807 when he was on a tax list. He moved to Gratis twp Preble Co., OH in 1820 where he died in 1824.
