Samuel J Read To Mary Ridgway

This indenture made the tenth day of October in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred and eighteen Between Samuel J Read and Sarah his wife of 
Mount holly in the county of Burlington and State of New Jersey of the one part 
and Mary Ridgway Daughter of Dellaplain Ridgway late of the same place deceased 
of the other part Witnesseth that the said Samuel J Read and Sarah his wife for 
and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid by the said 
Mary Ridgway at &before the perfection hereof the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged Have given, granted, bargained and sold, aliened, enfeoffed, 
conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do absolutely give, grant, bargain, 
sell, alien, release convey and confirm unto her the said Mary Ridgway the same 
in her acual possession now being and to her heirs and assigns forever All that 
certain lot or piece of land situate on the westwardly side of High street in 
the town of Mount holly adjoining a lot which the said Samuel J Read and Sarah 
his wife conveyed to Dorothea Ridgway and is thus bounded Beginning at a  stone 
[corner] to the said Dorothea Ridgway and runs thence bounding therewith South 
sixty five degrees west four hundred &sixty six feet seven inches to a stake 
corner to the said Dorothea Ridgway in the line of land belonging to the estate 
of Joseph Read decd thence by said Read north twenty four degrees west seventy 
eight feet four inches to a stake in said Reed’s line and corner to a lot which 
the said Samuel J Read & Sarah his wife conveyed to Sarah Lambert the wife of 
Wilson Lambert thence by the said Sarah Lamberts lot bounding therewith north 
sixty five degrees East four hundred and sixty six feet seven inches to a stone 
on the westwardly side of High street aforesaid thence along the said street 
south twenty five degrees East eighty one feet two inches to the place of 
Beginning let the contents of land be what it may more or less Together with all

the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging with the revisions and 
remainders, rents, issues & profits thereof and of every part & parcel thereof 
and all the estate rights, title, interest, claim and demand whatsoever of them 
the said Samuel J Read and Sarah his wife and their heirs therein and thereto To 
Have & to Hold the said lot of land as above limited bounded & described unto 
the said Mary Ridgway her heirs & assigns to the only proper use benefit and 
behoof of her the said Mary Ridgway her heirs & assigns forever In witness 
whereof the said Samuel J Read and Sarah his wife have hereunto set their hands 
and seals the day & year first herein written

Be it remembered that on the fourteenth day of November eighteen hundred & 
eighteen personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Judges of the 
Superior court of common Pleas in & for the county of Burlington Samuel J Read 
and Sarah his wife grantors of the before written deed of conveyance who 
acknowledged that they signed sealed & delivered the same for the uses & 
purposes therein mentioned and the said Sarah being by me examined apart and 
separate from her husband did acknowledged that she signed sealed & delivered 
the same as her voluntary act and deed without any threats or compulsion from 
her husband
