Thomas McGarry (McGeary) (1865-1924) Thomas McGeary, the son of Martin and Mary McCarty McGeary, was born in Ireland on September 21, 1865 and emigrated to New Jersey in the early 1880s. The family surname was originally McGeary, as indicated on all early documents. Eventually the spelling was changed to McGarry. A foundry worker at the Florence Foundry, he was killed on the job on January 9, 1924. He was the brother of Annie (Shelley), Ellen (Coleman) and Katie (Hanley) and Martin and Peter McGarry, all of whom emigrated to the United States. He married Mary Foy. They had these children: Agnes, Maria, Thomas, William, James, Helen (Mrs. Shedaker), Martin and William Joseph. Mary Foy McGarry (1865-1952) Mary, the daughter of Mathew and Mary Golman Foy, was born in England on December 24, 1865. She died on June 7, 1952. She married Thomas McGeary. They had these children: Agnes, Maria, Thomas, William, James, Helen (Mrs. Shedaker), Martin and William Joseph. Agnes F. McGarry (1889-1977) Agnes McGarry was born on October 9, 1889 and died on May 26, 1977. The daughter of Thomas and Mary Foy McGarry, she was a former Pennsylvania Railroad employee and lived on Bordentown Road. She was buried at Laurel Hill. Maria McGarry (1890-1983) Maria McGarry was born in 1890 and died in May 1983. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Foy McGarry. Martin McGarry (1895-1948) Martin McGarry, the son of Thomas and Mary Foy McGarry, was born on April 23, 1895 and died on May 31, 1948. A WWI veteran, he worked at the US Pipe and Foundry Company. He married Lena Palma. They had three sons: Thomas, William and James. William McGeary (1898) William McGeary was the son of Thomas and Mary Foy McGeary. He was born in January and died at age 7 months and 21 days on August 22, 1898. William Joseph McGarry (1898-1982) William Joseph McGarry, the son of Thomas and Mary Foy McGarry, was born in 1898 and died in 1982. He served in WWII. James McGarry (1911-1983) James McGarry, the son of Thomas and Mary Foy McGarry, was born in 1911 and died on August 3, 1983. He was survived by three nieces: Helen Howe, Mary Arze and Barbara Bowlin, all of Miami, FL. Martin McGarry (1880-1916) Martin McGarry was born in 1880 in Ireland to Martin and Mary McCarty McGeary and died on February 4, 1916 in Burlington. The funeral was held at the home of his sister, Ellen McGeary Coleman. His other siblings include Thomas, Katie and Annie and Peter. Ellen McGarry (1836-1921) Ellen McGarry was born in 1836 and died on June 27, 1921. She was the wife of Peter McGarry. They had a son, Peter. She was buried in Philadelphia. Thomas Hanley (1871-1902) Thomas Hanley was born in 1871 in Ireland and emigrated to New Jersey in 1888. He died on July 5, 1902. He married Katie McGeary. They had a daughter, Helen, born in 1900. (Buried in Laurel Hill) Andrew J. Hanley (1876-1909) Andrew Hanley was born in 1876 and died on May 5, 1909. He was a member of A.O.H. and the Foresters of America. He worked at US Pipe & Foundry. The funeral was held at his residence, 107 High St., Burlington. (Buried in Laurel Hill.) John Coleman (1896-1897) John Coleman was the son of Thomas H. and Ellen T. McGeary Coleman. He died on January 21, 1897, at the age of 2 months and 14 days. The funeral was held at his parents' home at 249 W. Union St. Burial at Laurel Hill.
