(Bridgeton, N.J.) November 10, 1855 Accident.—A few days since as some school children were returning from school on Cape Island and were amusing themselves in clubbing a horse which was running at large, one little fellow, the son of Capt. Israel Hughes, ventured to catch the horse by the tail, as the joys are in the habit of doing with cattle, and the horse not liking the treatment, immediately kicked him in the face breaking his jaw and otherwise seriously wounding his face. We mention this as a treble warning: To parents to caution their children against interfering with cattle and horses; to children to heed the caution of their parents; and to owners of horses to desist from letting them run at large.— Ocean Wave Additional Comments: Source: West-Jersey pioneer.
