West-Jersey Pioneer. (Bridgeton, N.J.) 1851-1884: January 31, 1857 January 31, 1857
On Wednesday last, Robert F. Ayars, son of Mr. Joseph Ayars of this town, while out
in the field gunning, had his arm shot very severely. He was pushing the breech of
his gun against a pile of brush when the gun discharged, the contents entering his
arm above the elbow. He is doing as well as could be expected, though fears are
entertained that the arm will have to be amputated.
