(Bridgeton, N.J.) 1851-1884: February 23, 1856 February 23, 1856 Burned to Death.—The Cape May Ocean Wave says that an old eccentric resident of Dennisville, in that county, named Jacob Smith, was burned to death in his hut, which was consumed, last Saturday night. He had lived alone for several years, and was a man much given to drinking, and it is supposed he was intoxicated at the time the house took fire.
