Her ashes will be scattered with those of her late husband. Born May 24, 1911, in Newark, N.J., Mrs. Bauman was a graduate of Newark Arts High School and an accomplished oil painter. She served as president of the League of Women Voters in Newark, and on the Girl Scout Council, and managed the home office for the medical practice of her husband of 60 years, the late Everett Ollendorf Bauman. Mrs. Bauman first came north in 1964, when she distinguished herself by driving the mud-soaked Alaska Highway and preparing daiquiris in a peanut butter jar on evening stops. She made several more trips to Alaska by commercial jet before her permanent move to Anchorage in July 1997. Mrs. Bauman was a talented cook, baker and homemaker, who enjoyed camping with her family all over the western United States and vacationing in Hawaii and Europe with her husband and friends. She is survived by her son, Jon of Cincinnati; daughter, Margaret; grandson, Daniel; and three huskies, Hobo, Calvin and George, all of Anchorage; and a brother, William Teimer of Centerville, Mass.
