The submittor has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ************************************************************************ LESLIE HARBISON KILLED IN EXPLOSION Earl Leslie harbison, 30 of Howard St, husband of Dorothy Fisler Harbison, and son of Mr and Mrs Samuel Harbison of Hardingville, was killed when three tons of nitro-glycerine exploded at the Du Pont plant at Gibbstown, yesterday morning. Harbinson and Edward Bundens, 35m of Paulsboro, who was also killed were the only men in the building at the time of the blast which broke windows and rocked buildings within an area of 60 miles. Two carpenters were injured when hit by debris from the wrecked building. Mr. Harbinson had been enployed at the plant only a few months. he is survived by his wife, two small sons, Earl J Jr., 3, and Robert, one year old: his parents, two sisters: Mrs Velma Cassaday of Clayton and Dorothy Harbinson of Hardingville and a brother, Norman, of Hardingville. The family has the sympathy of the entire community. APPOINTED ALTERNATE TO WEST POINT "Dave" Silver, son of Mr and Mrs D.L. Silver, won the nomination as second alternate to one of two appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Congressman Charles Wolverton announced on Friday. GOVERNOR CANIDATE ( with photo) Robert C. Hendrickson Gloucester county state senator, was was endorsed over the week-end by Republician leaders as a candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor at the May primary election POMONA GRANGE TO INSTALL OFFICERS Newly elected officers of the Gloucester County Pomona Grane No.8. will be installed on Saturday, at a meeting held in the Glassboro State Teachers College. District Deputy Dudley Richardson and Louis Reuter will conduct the installation. A musical program will be held in the afternoon, the Clayton and harrisonville Granges supplying the talent. Mrs. J.G. Felipe, Worthy Hitt and Mrs harriet Hauck from the Clayton Grange will take part in the program. CAPPERINES TO HOLD LEAP YEAR DANCE The dance committe of the Onized Capperines is well on their way with arrangement for the Leap Year Dance, which is to be held on Saturaday, Feb 3. The occassion is to be held in the new St Anthony Hall, located on Church Street. This hall was recently completed and is considered the best in this vicinity. Don Donson and his orchestra will furnish the music for the evening. Spot dance prizes will also bb awarded during the course of the evening.
