The submittor has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ************************************************************************ Will of John Packer (970H W-I 1852) Gloucester Co, NJ, Book E-175 I John Packer of the Township of Deptford, County of Gloucester in the State of New Jersey, being of a sound disposing mind and memory do make and publish this instrument of writing as my last will and Testament, in manner following, viz, -- Item 1st__ I direct my Executor to pay all my just debts out of my personal Estate __ And the balance of my paid personal estate I give and bequeath to my two Daughters Rhoda and Christiana D Packer, equally to them share and share alike, -- Item 2nd__ I give and bequeath to my son John Packer the sum of Five hundred dollars, And to my aforesaid daughter Rhoda the sum of Nine hundred dollars, And to my aforesaid daughter Christiana D. Packer the sum of Eight hundred dollars; to be paid to them severally, by my son Daniel, within one year from the time of my decease with interest, in the manner herein directed, and out of the lands herein devised to my said son Daniel, in the ninth Item of this my said Will, -- Item 3rd __ I devise unto Mary L., John C., Deborah C. and Nathaniel C. Packer, children of my late deceased son Jonathan Packer, four acres of meadow ground be the same more or lefs, lying on the North Easterly side of the Public Road leading from Crown point road to the Salem road, and bounded on the Easterly side by the sd Jonathan Packer's other land, and on the westerly side by land herein devised to my sd son Daniel, to have and to hold the same to them their heirs and afsigns forever share & share alike, -- Item 4th__ I further devise unto the said Mary L. John C. Deborah C. and Nathaniel C Packer, children of my aforesd son Jonathan, and their heirs and afsigns forever a lot of woodland lying adjoining the land (or farm) of my said son Jonathan, being the lot of woodland that I purchased of Wm Cooper and Sarah his wife by Deed dated the 10th day of the 7th month 1813 Containing four acres three roods and thirty two perches, be the same more or lefs. Item 5th__ I devise unto my son Lawrence Packer a lot of land laying on the south side and adjoining to the farm whereon the said Lawrence now lives, which I purchased of John Cooper by Deed dated the 19th day of the 4th month 1815 Containing five acres & four perches be the same more or lefs, to have & to hold the same to him his heirs and afsigns forever, -- Item 6th__ I also further devise unto my said son Lawrence Packer and to his heirs and afsigns forever about Two acres of land more or lefs adjoining to my said son Lawrence's other land, to Begin at a Stone corner to my 42 acres, and to run from thence, so as to take off about 2 acres, from the North West side of a lot of five acres and 20 perches, that I purchased of Wm Cooper & wife by Deed dated the 19th day of the 12 month 1836, -- Item 7th__ I devise unto my daughter Esther Estlack late Esther Packer a lot of woodland that I purchased of Josiah Tatum and Joseph Saunders Executors of Biddle Reeves, deceased, adjoining lands of John B Jefsup, James Gibbs and others containing nine acres three roods and thirty five perches, more or lefs, to have and to hold the same to her & to her heirs & afsigns forever, __ Item 8th__ I devise to my Two sons John and Daniel my lot of marl land that I purchased of Wm Mickle & George Craft, afsignees of Restore Lippincott, as per Deed, containing three acres & one rood more or lefs to have & to hold the same to them equally and to their heirs and afsigns forever. __ Item 9th__ I devise to my said son Daniel all the balance (or remaining) part part of my lands not heretofore devised) to him his heirs and afsigns forever, Provided Neverthelefs that he pays to my aforesd son John the sum of five hundred dollars to my said daughter Rhoda the sum of Nine hundred dollars and to my said daughter Christiana D Packer the sum of Eight hundred dollars within one year from the time of my decease with interest, as bequeathed, mentioned & set forth in the second Item of this my last will and Testament, And I hereby charge the payment of the three several Legacies, amounting together to Twenty two hundred dollars as bequeathed in the Second Item of this my sd will to my said son John and to my two said daughters Rhoda and Christiana D Packer upon the lands herein devised to my said son Daniel. __ [ ] I appoint my son Daniel Packer Executor of this my testament and last will ____ In witnefs whereof I have to these presents set my hand and seal this ninth day of the Eighth month Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and forty nine. __ Signed, published and declared } by John Packer to be his last } testament in the presence of us,} John Packer LS [ ], & in his presence, & in } [] of each other, have signed } as witnefses hereto. } Geo. Godfrey M Bockins one of the subscribing witnefses to the within will being duly sworn according to law on his oath deposeth and saith, that he saw John Packer, the testator therein named, sign and seal the same, and heard him publish, pronounce and declare the within writing to be his last will and Testament and that at the doing thereof, the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind and memory, as far as the deponent knows, and as he verily believed, and that Geo. Mickle and William Bailey the other subscribing witnefses were present at the same time, and signed their names as witnefses to the said will, together with this deponent, in the presence of the Testator.__ [ ] and subscribed } [ ] 1st 1852 Before me } Godfrey M.
