Fillips, NJ Historical Society, Newark, NJ This Indenture made the third day of April in the tenth year of our Sovereign lord George Third, by the grace of God king of Great Britain and the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy between Abner Phillips of Hopewell in the County of Hunterdon and western division of the Province of New Jersey, Yeoman of the one part and Job Phillips of the Town County and Province aforesaid, on the other part Witnesseth that the said Abner Phillips for in consideration of the sum of thirty six pounds fifteen shillings Current lawful money of New Jersey to him paid at and before the ensealing and Delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof and of Every Part and Parcel hereof he the said Abner Phillips doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and every Part and Parcel thereof Doth fully and Freely Acquit Exonerate Release and Discharge the said Job Phillips his heirs & Assigns by these Presents hath grated Bargained sold, allined, Released and Confirmed and by these presents doth fully freely grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Job Phillips his heirs and assignes forever all that tract and Parcel of land situated and being in the town of Hopewell aforesaid on Smith's mountain and butted and Bounded as by the survey thereof According to a Survey of a deed given by Daniel Coxe unto Job Phillips and Abner Phillips containing forty acres of land the one half of which together with all the ways waters Pastures woodland and Improvements and Also all Royalties Powers Prophits Commodities heriditaments & Appertanances whatsoever to the said forty acres of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and all the Estate Right title Interest Use Possessions Property Claim or Demand whatsoever of him the said Abner Phillips or Elizabeth his wife in law as well as Equity of into or out of the same or any Part or Parcels thereof and Reversion or Reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents Issues and Prophets thereof and Every Part and Parcel thereof To Have and To hold the said tract of Land as it is located and surveyed butted and bounded Containing twenty acres and all and singular the premises herein before mentioned or Intended to be hereby granted and sold and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their Impertinence's Unto the said Job Phillips his heirs and assigns to the only Proper Use and behoof of the said Job Phillips and of his heirs and assigns forever and also that the said Job Phillips his heirs and Assigns shall or May lawfully from time to time and at all times forever hereafter Peaceably and Quietly have hold Use Occupy Possess Enjoy & keep the said tract of land and other premises herein before mentioned or intended to by hereby granted and sold with their and every of their appertinances and Receive and Take the rents issues and Prophets thereof this his and their use and behoof without any of the Let Suit trouble hinderances denial or interruption of his the said Abner Philips or Elizabeth his wife, his heirs or Assigns. in Witness whereof the said Parties have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of Note the land above Mentioned lays joining Andrew Theopilus Phillips Titus, Edward Cornwell & Return Temple and was purchased of Daniel Timothy Hunt Coxe by Richard Phillips, after His decease Job Phillips and Abner Rebeckah Phillips became tenants in common in sd. lands Abner Phillips Elizabeth Phillips (mark) The foregoing is a true copy of an ancient paper owned by Mr. J.
