All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nj/njfiles.htm ************************************************ Hunterdon County Deeds Book 3 p. 297 Evans Godown to Andrew Larison & Wife This indenture made the twenty second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand and seven hundred and seventy nine between Evans Godown of the township of Amwell, County of Hunterdon in the State of New Jersey of the one part and Andrew Larison and Lavina his wife of the same place of the other part Whereas William Biddle late of Mount Hope in the County of Burlington Gent. Deceased did by his indentures of lease and release bearing the date on or about the twentieth and one and twentieth and first day of February in the year one thousand and seven hundred and seven did grant bargain sell --- and convey to Jacob Godown of Amwell deceased and to his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate in the Township of Amwell aforesaid containing two hundred acres being butted and bounded as follows (viz) Beginning at a --- tree standing in the grant Road in a line of an old survey, thence along the said line south --- forty chains to another corner tree & standing in the aforesaid great Road and from thence along the said Road to the first mentioned corner And Whereas John Reading of the Township of Amwell aforesaid for and --- to John Reading late of the same place Gentleman decd. died by one Indenture of bargain and sale under his hand a seal duly executed bearing date the twenty Sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and eighteen for the considerations therein mentioned grant bargain sell enfeaose and confirm unto the said Jacob Godown and to his heirs & assigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of Land lying in the aforesaid Township of Amwell adjoining to the above mentioned tract and containing about thirty acres bounded on the south westerly side by the land late Bartholomew Thatcher's on the north westerly side by the above mentioned tract of the said Jacob Godown's on the north Easterly side by the Great Road and on the southeasterly side by the Allishockin Brook which said Tract of land was purchased by the said John Reading the Elder in partnership with Samuel Green of the above named William Biddle Esq. the discharge of Lease and release dated the twenty first and twenty second day of February Anno Dom. One thousand Seven hundred and ten was afterwards by the said Samuel Green released to the said John Reading and are part or parts of a larger tract of land to the said William Biddle there laid out as part of his share of land belonging & one --- and half part of a propriety of land by him purchased of Edward Billynge and --- by Deeds of Lease and Release bearing date the twenty second and twenty third of Jany. Anno Dom. 1676 And Whereas the said Jacob Godown of the Township of Amwell aforesaid by his Deed bearing date the twenty seventh day of July Anno Dom: 1743 and for a reasonable consideration therein mentioned did grant and convey to the said Evan Godown party to these presents One hundred and twenty --- acres of land with allowance for highway recourse being had to the Deed aforesaid as fully and at large will appear --- This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Evan Godown for and consideration of the sum of two hundred pounds of current lawful money of New Jersey aforesaid to him in hand at and before the sealing and Delivery of these presents by the said Andrew Larrison the receipt whereof he the said Evan Godown doth have and acknowledge and thereof and every part and parcel thereof doth freely acquit exonerate release and Discharge the said Andrew Larrison and his heirs Executors and adms. of every of them by these presents he the said Evan Godown doth bargained sold aliened released & confirmed and by these presents fully freely and absolutely Doth grant bargain sell alien release and confirm to the said Andrew Larison and Lavina his Wife their heirs and assigns forever --- of the above recited parcel of land lying and situate in Amwell afrsd. butted and bounded as follows (viz) Beginning at a post in he great Road next the land of John Barber and Caleb Farley thence by their line --- forty five Degrees west forty chains to Isaac ---- land thence by his line South fifty five Degrees East thirty one chains and fifty links to John Barbers land thence by his line south forty five Degrees East forty chains to the aforesaid Great Road thence by the same south fifty five degrees west twenty chains to the place of Beginning and containing with the bounds aforesaid one hundred and eleven acres of land To have and to hold the said one hundred and Eleven acres with allowance for highways, situated --- and butted --- above aforesaid expressed and declared and all & singular the premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto the said Andrew Larison and Lavina his Wife their heirs & assigns for the only proper use and behoof of the said Andrew Larison and Lavina his wife their heirs and assigns forever Together with all the houses, buildings, orchards, gardens fences and all other improvements with all the mines minerals hawkings huntings fowling and fishing with all other rights properties privileges hereditaments and appurtenance whatsoever unto the same belonging or in any ways pertaining to him the said Andrew Larrison and Lavina his wife and to their heirs and assigns to the sole and singular use benefit & behoof the said Andrew Larrison and Lavina his wife and to their heirs & assigns forever and the said Evan Goodman dot further covenant promise and grant to --- with the said Andrew Garrison and Laving his wife that before sealing hereof that they are the true sole and lawful owners of the above granted premises and are lawfully seized and possessed of the same in their own proper right as a good perfect absolute estate of Inheritance and have themselves lawful authority to grant, bargain and sell & --- the said bargained premises in --- as above said and that the said Andrew Larrison and Lavina his wife & all -- may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by virtue of these presents lawfully, peaceably and quietly have use --- possess and enjoy the said Demised and bargained premises with their appurtenances free and simple and freely and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged of and from all and any manner of former Gifts grants bargains sales leases mortgages Wills entails --- Dowries Judgments Executions Incumberances and troubles whatsoever. And further the said Evan Godown with covenant to bind himself his heirs Executors administrators and every of them firmly by these presents to warrant and Defend the said Andrew Larrison and Lavina his wife the quiet and peaceably possession of all and singular the said granted and bargained premises against any just and lawful claims of any person or persons claiming or that may claim form --- or that may claim from by or --- him or any of them. In Witness whereof the said Evan Godown has hereunto set his hand and seal the day & year above written. Evans Godown Sealed Signed & Delivered in the presence of Benjamin Larason William Frazer Be it remembered that on the 9th day of Jany anno Domo 1787 personally came and appeared before me Jo- Reading one of the judges of the Court of Common pleas for the County of Hunterdon Evans Godown who acknowledged that he signed sealed and as his act and Deed Delivered the above instrument of conveyance for the uses and purposes herein mentioned, To here before me Jo- Reading Recorded Feby 17th 1806
